I will be brief, cause I don't understand the technical babble, but the old chat broke and our technical admin is working on replacing it with a newer spiffer and better model. This will be completed as quickly as possible.

UPDATE: you can now use chat, if you are Java enabled. If your firewall blocks it (a main prob if you are on a college network) there will be things you can do that will work around it. We will be keeping you updated as much as possible. The technical admin is busy setting chat up as quickly as possible.

For the new chat there will be a little bit of a learning curve, however it is a much better solution for chat. We ask for your continued patience as we work the bugs out.

Indeed, the new chat system has been implemented. I have a lengthy to-do list, including finishing up the "look and feel" and adding smilies, but it is essentially complete.

To log in, simply specify a "nickname" and a password. If you haven't used said "nickname" on the new chat system before, it will automatically be registered, and you must use that same password to log in from then on.

More information will be posted shortly, including a full tutorial on its use; however, you'll find it's much the same as the previous chat system, as well as much improved.

can we get a posting of the link to the backdoor chat for the college kids? no ones on to give it to me Plus it'd be useful to have on the site.

To conform trillian to chat:

Manage my connections>add a connection>IRC.

For the first line type: Nightscrawlers Chat
The second type: shadowedcorner.com:8067
The last three type your user name

then click 'change'

Tick the box under perform buffer and in the text box there type: /identify /join #nightscrawlers (ie if my password is green I'd type /identify green /join #nightscrawlers)

Save settings.

Now when you want to get on, you click the white dot that is to the left most side under your picture, select 'join a channel' and then type "Nightscrawlers" in the box. You are in! Yay!

There is a link to the "backdoor" chat on the main page. It's not an illicit method of access; it's simply not recommended and not supported. Click 'IRC Gateway'.

Make sure that you put a linebreak between those two commands, e.g.:
/identify green
/join #nightscrawlers

Also, if you have almost ANY Internet messaging client supporting IRC installed; the following URL will connect you to the server:

irc://chat.nightscrawlers.com:8067/nightscrawlers

IRC clients that don't support the above method of access will accept the command: /server shadowedcorner.com 8067.

I know i had a problem with the line between those. If you cant just hit enter and get a new line try "control enter" that worked on my comp.
