Everything sounds great so far Darick. I'm really looking forward to this series. Hell, anything with solo Nighty is worth my attention. ;)

I'm not sure if this was mentioned already but will you be attending the SDCC? Some of us Nightscrawlers will be attending. I'd sure love to meet ya! :D

I'd like to meet you all as well, but I will, be home drawing Nightcrawler #2. I have so much on my plate for July, I can't afford the time to go to SDCC.

If all goes well, I will have Nightcrawler #1 finished this Tuesday!

Sorry to hear that. :( I was hoping to get a commission drawing from you to put on my wall. That is of course if you were doing them. Perhaps next time. :) Do you do smaller conventions?

If all goes well, I will have Nightcrawler #1 finished this Tuesday!
Great! So everything is running smoothly then? I hope the editors don't ask you to change anything. :rolleyes

I live in Vegas! Do you live close by? LA? Vegas itself? This is awesome! Will it be at the Mandalay Bay again? I missed it last year. So we will be meeting then. This is great!

This is a custom 1:6th scale Nightcrawler figure I made. This one is exceptional from my other customs as I completely sculpted the head, (3 times as the first 2 weren't quite right and were too big...) and hand sculpted modifcations to create the hands and feet.

(The pics were hard to get as the flash makes him look far shinier than the figure looks in person, and washes the actual color up 2 shades)

Cool! That looks awesome!

Do you use figures as models to help you do some of your drawings (Kind of like Model sheets and Marquets they use in animation)?

Comic-con in Las Vegas over Halloween? Maybe I can make *that* one, as SDCC is out of my reach due to work.

I'm coming late to the parade, but:

1. Yay! Solo series!

2. I like the cover. If the series is to be 'dark and creepy and mysterious', it fits that mood to a T. There's enough comics out there with covers in screaming fuchsia and action words, it's good to see something more subtle.

3. I also like the look. By putting him in more casual clothes, he looks more 'human', obvious non-human features aside. However, if you could put him in screaming fuchsia, you'll have a fan for life.

4. It'll be interesting to see how they handle the religion/spirituality angle.

Thanks,
C-ko

Cool custom figure! I love it! I've always been into one of kinds. Art is by far the best. :)

You know Darick I bought a few custom made Nighty's from a guy on Ebay. Also one Wolverine too. All 3 are 12 inchers and from X-2. One Nighty is dressed in a X-Men leather uniform.

I'll have to take pictures of them again and post back. I think you might like them. :D

I'd like to see those!

Like I posted, this one was especially significant as I sculpted his head from scratch, and for the first time, I'm pretty pleased. Now I have to go and tackle some other of my favortie characters. (street clothes make the job easier for sure, cause I can't sew...:p )

I do like to use them for reference from time to time, especially when setting up a scene. That low angle shot above for example will be really useful. (and you can all have an inside laugh if you see it show up in a future issue...)

Oh wow, Darick, that is an amazing sculpture. It puts all others to shame. How long did it take to make that? (sewing is easy, sewing small things is hard. I feel sorry for the poor fellows who make Barbie clothes)

Damn! Comic-con over Halloween weekend, rats! I live in southern CA, but my family is going to Vegas for Vacation this summer, wish I could go during the convention, but my Dad's a Treky and he wanted to go to the Star Trek convention at the LV Hilton, Oh well.

Don't know.
That's alright
Probably not.
A pity still they should meet it's bound to happen somewhere
Maybe?
Is that an attempt to lure me into buying the book or something else entirely hmmm
He's doing it as part of his obligation to the X-Men.
I guess I'm going to have to read it to understand
Right now Roberto is writing issue #2, and has the first arc and ideas for the second planned out, but that's it! These things don't get all lined up the way that some fans imagine...

And again, I'm just the artist, so I don't have an immediate access to Roberto's imagination until I'm reading the script or he's discussing ideas with me.
That's alright I'll live

I did three different heads before getting the one I used. It took about a week to do all three heads in between doing my work.

(sewing is easy, sewing small things is hard.
Which was why I said that I don't do it.

I recall home-ec sewing and I can stitch a pocket or replace a button, but I can't sew figure clothing. Wish I could! There'd be no stopping me!

So, that's two interviews from Darick in the last month or so. Where's Roberto's interview?

Good idea ! A Roberto interview, please !
Let us know HIS love for the character !

Darick, do you know if Roberto will still write the series after your job is done, or is it too soon to tell ?
-and I hope YOU'll stay longer than a year, if you enjoy working with him.
