Apollo and Midnighter

Post by Bamfette »

Just was reminded that I should post this here... I did a picture of Apollo (my favorite character, after Nightcrawler) to kinda welcome him to the new DCU:

Previously, I did a picture of him and Midnighter to say goodbye, after Wildstorm closed up shop:

so there you go, Apollo in his new and old costumes, and Midnighter in his old costume.

The DC Apollo drawing is what made me warm to his new costume. It seemed so non-sensical until I saw your version of it. I'm still not a fan of the booties, but you hid them enough for me. ;)

I love the composition and motion you managed to get out of a static image. He really seems to be moving through the air, not just floating in a pose. And the sun in the background is a nice touch for a drawing of "the Sun God."

The other drawing is still my desktop wallpaper. That's all I need to say about that one. :D

I can't believe I actually forgot just how good of an artist you are. I don't really follow the DC books so I don't recognise the characters, but I can still really appreciate the art here all the same :)

You are so frikken talented, Bamfette, it makes me salivate. I want to steal your talent like Zachary Quinto in Hero's (crap, dated reference). But seriously, thanks for sharing these! I honestly know very little about the character, but I love seeing your work :)

LB & Nacht> You guys should pick up Stormwatch #1 next week. Then you'll see why we drool all over these two characters. ;)

littlebamf - they're not technically even DC characters... not until 2 days ago, anyway. They're from Wildstorm, which is getting merged into the DCU with the relaunch.

could also get The Authority trades. Warren Ellis' 12 issue run was the best, you really only need those 2, even though The Authority lasted a lot longer after that. They're also on on comiXology.

Apollo and Midnighter are the best. I just hope Cornell does them justice, but I think he will. The costumes are... not the greatest, (I am hoping they get new costumes once they are together, so they match, like they did before) but I think the writing will make up for it (though nothing will make up for Apollo's hair).

here's some good Midnighter moments:

yeah... he's a *little* on the violent side... :P

but he's also sweet when with Apollo and/or Jenny

Apollo is harder to find. he wasn't as popular as Midnighter to start with, and you keep coming up with pictures of the moon landing and greek gods, so... We'll leave it with Midnighter for now

Ahh,my mistake! I've never been able to follow Wildstorm either :P. I'm chronically unemployable so sadly my comic collection is a little stunted in terms of diversity. Although just meantioning Warren Ellis is enough to get me interested in checking it out. I have a list of books that are on my list to check out once I get a job. I went through a buying spurt in university and developed skills at tracking down stuff on amazon, but that was helped a little by my student loan. Well I didn't have to buy text books for my course after all...

In terms of Cornell, he's actually a favourite writer of mine. I was thoroughly impressed with his run on Captain Britain and I loved his Wisdom Max mini, aside from the fact it did turn out a little Dr. Whoish, but he has written for that too so it's sort of understandable.

So...yeah...this has to go on the list. I'm never going to have money at this rate, just lots and lots of lovely comics.

yay! C and I will have someone else to gush with about Stormwatch :) Seriously, super excited for this book, first issue comes out on the 7th.

and yeah I read Cornell's Captain Britain, that was the series that convinced me he was a good fit for Stormwatch. it was kinda Ellis-Authority in tone... but magic instead of sci-fi.

Mua ha ha! We have a convert! Hopefully by this time next week, you'll be a bigtime Apollo / Midnighter fan. Of course, the Engineer may be more to your liking.

or Jack Hawksmoor. He's cool too. I mean, wearing Tokyo as armor nets you major cool points. (he normally looks like this http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lmjb3iuhh41qbcb8t.jpg ) he will be my next fan pic, actually.
