is she supposed to be related to kurt? her character confuses me, since i don't read the comics... but somethiing i read made me think he was a cousin or something

She's a former lover of Prof. Xavier, even had his son, who inadvertently caused AoA.

No. Xavier had a son (David Charles Haller aka LEGION) with Gabrielle Haller and it is this child that caused the AoA. Moira had a son (Kevin MacTaggert aka PROTEUS) with Joe MacTaggert.

Though Xavier did have a relationship with Moira earlier.

In the ULTIMATE universe, on the other hand, Xavier did indeed have a child with Moira whose name was David. He was more PROTEUS than LEGION in powers and appearance, though.

I forgot about that. They've got so many damned version and series of X-Men, it just gets so confusing.

It does get confusing. DC went through the same problems and cleaned up the DC universe in the mid '80's by doing away with mulitiple Earths. Check out DC's Crisis of Infinite Earths. It's available in Graphic Novel form. One of the best DC's storylines of the 80's. They killed off quite a few prominent DC characters. Check it out Siona. It's good reading!:nodyes
