Yes, a Nightcrawler fan club here at the board. So...suggestions?

Oh, well, what would the place be like?

IS there going to be a test, of any kind?

Uh, and, why, you guys have, well, this is like a clubhouse so I'm kinda confused. :?

We COULD have a test...

And we'd probably ask everyone to put a certain something in their signatures, both here and on other boards.

And we have a private board that only we can access...why we would want to is what I'm asking for suggestions on. ;)

And certainly, we'll have to have a IRL meeting, a convention of sorts, in the relatively near future. (I'm thinking the X2 premiere...)

Oh...and there'll be a newsletter, and I'm planning on a few other perks. Maybe Bamf dolls or t-shirts or limited edition prints...

Now, why a private message board/clubhouse?

I mean, I only see them when I hear of Rpg's or adult material or something of the like.

But its also a place to get lovely lovely gossip. I don't know, maybe it can have kind of a bar atmosphere.

What kind of test do you want to set up?
Intiation?
Nightcrawler quiz?
General apptitude test?
A physical?

Hey Crawler!
How do I join?
And can we have "Got Elf?" T-shirts?
This would be a cool place for the peeps from the old boards to have a more personal space, sounds cool, Ive been too busy to post a lot lately, but I am VERY down with the idea. BTW I still think that it would be cool if a bunch of us could do a nightycon at or just before/after the premier. hope you had fun in Canada.

"Got Elf?" LOL, I love it!
This could be a veteran old skool NC Monument members forum!
I also love the idea of meeting for the premier. I'll be 17 then so will be able to drive, but I don't know how far. I say you all come to San Diego! :D

I dunno. As a newbie and someone who probably wouldn't join, I question the need for an exclusive section. I mean, this already IS a NC fanboard. Why need another?

If it's just about the newsletter, then why not add that to the normal forum signups. I wouldn't mind that ;)

i'm with Ryan on this... even tho i would join, what would we talk about on the private forum that would be all that different than on the regular board? fan club, sure... but this whole thing is like a big fanclub... it's a bit redundant....

i mean we were talking about this get together back on hostboard, no need to discuss it privately there, no need here.

Actually, the more that Ive thought about it, what would we talk about????? I mean if its getting THAT personal, we should consider what to name the baby;)

The newbies are right, the newsletter should be for everyone, if we have something really private to say, we can always send a pm or something.

Being exclusive is cool, being exclusionary is not.

Tee shirts, sweats, mousepads or what have you, are fun so long as you dont step on mighty Marvel toes, and Im not up on that kind of thing enough to open my mouth about it. If we want something more, I think that a chatspace is a fine thing, when ive got time to use it, that is.

Just my 2 cents worth :bamf:

How do we join this fanclub? I wouldn't be able to go anywhere in real life (whee, look at me, I'm trapped in the Midwest. Where nothing happens!), but I wouldn't mind a newsletter or whatnot.

As for that, we could be creative. Something like Hsu's ( I think it was Hsu) "Got elf?" is cute and won't get us in trouble with Marvel. Maybe it would with the "Got milk?" people though. Then again, maybe not. I've seen church billboards that say "Got God?" and haven't heard about any law suits. Plus, there's a big difference between merchandising and non-profit activity. Although THAT might mean we'd have to register as a non-profit organization, which would be akin to an OFFICIAL fan club. There's a lot of that in Trek fandom, and they seem to get along okay. However, that's all stuff we'd have to worry about down the line.

I agree with some of the newbies in that I would hate to see us EVER become exclusionary. One of the great things about this place is the friendship and openess here. That's why I've hung around for almost two years. I'd hate to see that change for ANY reason.

That said, I can see a clubhouse section for us hopeless dorks. No offense to anyone, but some people are just fans in passing and are uninterested in getting into the Crawler Cult too deeply. Then there are those of us who're obsessed, or we've made real life friends here, and I can see a private place for that. Chat rooms, PM and IM is fun, but for large group conversations, like many of the ones here, they just don't cut it. For example, when I got married I posted it at the board. Some people here know me and my real name and some don't. Some cared about that post and some didn't. I can see posting something like that to a private board.

Also, since I've been archiving the Monument, I've seen old threads with things like food fights, chats, discussions of our greatest fears and other semi-personal things. Even in the off-topic forum, honestly, does ANYBODY want to see that except the posters involved in it? Probably not, though it was great fun at the time.

And that's my two cents on that for now.

Ah, MonCon rises again. As I've said before, if we can figure it out, great. But there's a LOT of us now, and we're hella spread out. Mexico, Canada, Belgium, Sweden, the U.K., Portugal and all over the U.S.! How do we get a central location(s) for THAT? But I'm willing to try.

If you ever want to do a paper newsletter, Chris, let me know. I do publication layout for a living (more or less), and I could make us a kick ass one.

Lots of thoughts here. It seems I didn't think so far when I first read this. It still sounds as fun as it did in the beginning, but I'm getting a wee bit larger perspective - something new for me :p.

Meetings and newsletter sounds great. (Sounds good with Slarti around for the letter.) To have a specific board for it works fine with me, but then those who aren't in might feel a bit 'put aside' if it's password protected...

Well, I really don't have many clues. :bamf:

As much as I'd like to take credit for Got Elf? it was Pandora's idea.
Yeah, I've seen tons and tons of Got Milk? spoofs. I don;t think they trademarked the word got or the question mark so as long as we don't say milk, we can do it lawsuit free!

Then Pandora scores again with "Got Elf?" If we got them printed up on tees or mugs we could sell and Crawler could recoop on some of the expense he has gone to. (Thanks again fearless leader...)

I think this is an excellent idea. This could be the place for Dave (or any other creator for that matter) to post and have a moderate chance of not being overwhelmed with drive-by questions (WHAT is air speed of an unladen swallow? ). A more controlled enviornment as it were. ;)

I guess I am behind it 100% :D Thiough I agree that it should not be exclusive and certainly not manditory.

btw, Bamf Kat what happened with that "got milk" pic you showed me once?:love::love:

That is a good idea. I hate the idea of this place becoming a financial burden on him or anyone else. That could be a legit way for the board to be self-supporting, or almost. Having been a starving college student, I know a cash outlay even for a beloved hobby can hurt.

Ah, but is what breed of swallow is it? Seriously, another good idea! I think we could provide a good controlled environment for Dave, where he wouldn't get harrassed by trolls like he seems to get at X-Fan.

And, ooh, I can think of all kinds of fun things to do with a newsletter....

;) Thanks Slarti, the thought woke me up laughing the other night! Ive become a geek-priestess in the cult of the Fuzzy Elf:naughty:

But seriously, it would be cool to be able to give something back to the person that shucked out all that chedda' for us.
And besides, it would be a lot of fun to wear or have Nightscrawlers items.

I'm looking forward to the newsletter too!
