Okay.... I've put up with a lot of lame things.

But this is one of the lamest ideas I've ever seen.

So I finished reading issue #692 (commemorative 50th Anniversary issue of Amazing Spider-Man).
Let me start by saying the second half of the book with little side-stories was much more interesting and heartfelt than he first half. I loved the story about the grandpa taking Spider-Man's outfit out of the trash can and trying to rob people in order to afford the healthcare his dying granddaughter needed. The usual stuff for Spider-Man, yes. Trauama/guilt/sadness, but it was still wonderfully written and the art is very nice.

But when you look at the first half of the book, it's almost joke.
Isn't Marvel beyond this now? Slott's writing ability and Ramos' art style almost are both a treasure to behold and they make a great team, so it's really disappointing when a shitty story like this is pumped out. It's so... '90's.
It really is. And the explanation of his powers, how they are "connected to the expansion of the universe" is just... ridiculous. And does no one want to go over Parker Particles a little more, perhaps?
My biggest problem with it was it wasn't fun, it was frustrating. And I don't want to see Peter as a grown up, not like this. I understand he teaches responsibility and power and all that to Hope, that's different. Playing Batman to this kid's Robin? It's a joke.

Alpha? Seriously? I mean read it, just read it, and tell me he doesn't look like something out of a Marvel comic from 1996. What's more frustrating is there are all these side-stories with that character. Now we have to read Alpha's side story.

So is this the end of the Amazing Spider-Man? Are you fucking kidding me? We lose out to what? An idiot kid who has no concept of the definition of right and wrong until Spider-Man's over his shoulder? If Nolan were writing this, Alpha would have blown half his face off and started killing people based on heads or tails of a trick-coin. It is just another shameless move on Marvel's part to try and do something new whilst trying to (I'm assuming) write-out Spider-Man. They've tried so many times and the fans won't let them. So when are they going to learn? Also, it's a shameless attempt to get young readers who, in my opinion, aren't worth the money to pander to.
