(Re-) Introduce Yourself!

Post by Crawler »

Whether you're an old hand that stuck around, have been gone for a while, or are brand new to the site, tell us a little bit about yourself!

------------

I'm Crawler, real name Christopher, nicknames C and Crash.

I'm 30, married, in college, and kidless. I currently live in Spokane, WA, after moving here last September to attend Eastern Washington University. I'm getting my B.A. in Literature, hopefully to be followed by an M.A. in the same. Ultimately, I will be a super world famous and very successful fiction writer. Barring the sheer luck that that would take, I plan to be an English professor at the university level.

Once upon a long time ago, I created this here monkeyhouse on the interwebs. I've recently returned to an active role.

Currently, I work as the Chief Copy Editor at the EWU newspaper, coordinating the copy editing team and helping to organize the newsroom as a whole.

I've only fairly recently gotten back into comics after a pretty long period of not reading them at all.

I'm excited to be here!

Hey Crash! Good to see you again, though I'm not quite that much of an old hand :D

I'm Scummy, AKA Toxic, real name Christian though I'm known to answer to anything come feeding time.

I'm 27, nearly 28, currently recovering from a bad turn healthwise so unemployed, though someday I aspire to be an awesomely epic famous comic book writer/artist. If not, I'll be happy to be a Fine Art tutor.

I've been on 'Scrawlers for a fair few years now, though am more active in the RPG part of the forum. Still, I amble onto the other parts, though as I'm not well into all the comics I get a little left behind on some of the discussions - not that I don't try!

I completely credit the RP part of this site with my ability to write and read understandable English. :3

I'm Paws (yes omg, I posted!) who's been on a bit of a sojurn to keep up with real life. A LOT of real life. Anyways, I'm 36, did university when some of you were in diapers and I live in Canada. I work at the university now which wasn't something I saw coming.

I have two kids, a cat, a husband, a house and a van. So yeah, pretty much suburban mom here. Just with...tweaks. If you're not aware of what those are, just be prepared that looks are deceiving and you'll be golden.

I'm not up to date on my comics at the moment, only because of real life (again, screw you real life).

Hoping that everyone is doing great!

I'm littlebamf ala Lauren.

I'm 25, live in England, I have a BA in drama and technical theatre. Currently unemployed, but I volunteer at a members run theatre where I work extensively in the costume department, act, and help out with the youth group.

I was here, then I wasn't, but now I'm back. In that time I graduated university, ran away to work on a carnival near Chicago, ran away from the carnival, hung out in Louisiana for a month, then went back to England. I've recently tamed a stray cat. I worked at this crazy production company for six months writing magazine articles, then tried to run away to work in DisneyLand Paris but I never left the train station of my city for the audition down in London - the cash machine swallowed my card.

I sew a lot, write a lot, read a lot, talk a lot and have an obsence collection of comics. That's obscenely large, not obscenely dirty you naughty people. Yes, I'm looking at you.

Well then, lets see.

I'm Fergie, aka...Fergie as I pretty much use that everywhere I go, 26 and an erstwhile student currently saving up to go back for my masters (BA is in Lit, MA will either be in Linguistics or Publishing, depending on what I finally decide is more important for the rest of my life as far as living goes)

I've been here for quite some time and haven't had many a lengthy absence since then. Unfortunately I can't afford to keep up with any comics as, yet again, I find my family draining me financially since I'm working as a legal secretary and staying until they've got things caught up post-bankruptcy (alas, under protest. Staying here gets quite old) Before that I was in Seoul teaching ESL and I desperately miss living there. I'd even eat kimchi every day in a sense of homesickness for the place if it was available.

I write a good deal (and am expecting some of you to finally help me through a Nano without going back and editing everything so often I don't finish in the month) unfortunately can't currently keep up with comics but still follow as well as I can, and help the rest of the game planners plan evil things for the game here.

Tears or Brittany, though I generally go by Britt. I help Ferg plan evil things for the game around here.

I'm 19, live in Indianapolis, graduated high school last year, and went to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago for a little over a semester before I dropped out. After dropping out, I moved in with my boyfriend, who lurks around here as JackSkulls (or Matt), who I coerced into joining and turned to Marvel. As of right now, I'm unemployed but do a little commission work for Matt's boss.

Matt has a 3-year-old son, Matthew, and my current goal is to turn him into a massive nerd. So far, I am succeeding. He's really into Lego Star Wars for Wii, has watched a little of Star Wars Clone Wars, and lightsaber battles with Matt's older brother. He loves Spider-Man and Iron Man, and we're working on introducing him to Superhero Squad.

As for comics, this summer has been the first time I've steadily gotten any book. I used to stick to trades or back issues.

Other than that I read, draw, play video games, sleep, and am a hockey fan.

I'm Slarti, Jeanette, Hey You, and newly, Mom. I've mostly always been here, except when I wasn't. But even then I might have been -- you just never know! I can remember when C and Lil weren't legal. (OMFG I'm OLD!) I'm 35, married, with an eight-month-old baby girl. I'm a suburbanite with a house, cat, and dog too, but no minivan. Got a degree in technical writing, which I have misused as a newspaper editor for the last 11 years or so. Currently, I'm the part time senior assistant editor thinger at a suburban paper in Kansas City.

Still read comics, but I generally wait for our pull list at the LCS to pile up for a few months so I have several issues at once to read. I love a lot of the past Vertigo stuff, like Preacher, but in current books I read several of the X-titles and The Walking Dead.

I'm married to a longtime comic collector, who has an account here but rarely posts. He's a DC fan, but I love him anyway.

Name is Nacht, some of you may remember me when I was an admin a few years ago. Time away and travels to the exotic New Jersey (once) has recentered my chi and I've decided to return after being invited by C. I look forward to reconnecting with awesome Scrawlers and getting back to what made this place amazing.

I'm a freelancer and stage actress, and doing awesome at both. Life is pretty sweet :). I've been in and out of comics for years, and am excited to see Nightcrawler back! Once issue though: Where the hell is Nocturne?!

Heya, everyone! :wave

I'm Starfish (not really a sapient echinoderm, though; just happened to listen to a song about them when it came to picking a username), 30 years old, and live in Germany.

It's been around four and half years since I've made this place my home on the Internet, and you can generally find me in chat on any given day. Even though I never was as big a Nightcrawler fan as others, I share Nacht's love for Nocturne - which is the reason I ended up here after following a link to this site in her signature on another comic book forum.

I studied sociology at the University of Mainz, and currently work as an assistant teacher for a local elementary school. I'm fairly active in our local role playing group, and help the others to run and maintain it. I've also had the opportunity to meet some of our resident Scrawlers in real life, and will do so again this October.

I'm still following Marvel comics to a certain degree, even though I've become a bit more picky and stopped collecting a while ago. Now it's a case by case decision which story arcs I follow and which I skip. There are also several non-Marvel titles I follow, as well as some European comic series.

Aside from that, I love all kinds of fantasy and science-fiction, roleplaying both on- and offline, and tabletop gaming. :)

I just recently posted in this forum, but guess I didn't say much about myself. You all can call me Indy if you like. (I don't give away my name or location because of an Internet stalker issue a couple years back.)

I've actually been lurking Nightscrawlers off and on since the second X-Man movie. RL was really busy, so I only stopped by to find out what was going on with our Fuzzy Elf. I finally registered a few years back but grad school, along with a very crappy Internet connection, gave me little time to spend on forums. I finally have a little time on my hands and a better computer. :)

I'm a scientist (medical research) and a mom of two "tweenagers" who finally understand what a cool character Kurt is from the Wolverine and the X-Men animated series. They now show an interest, and enjoy perusing the old Excalibur books I inherited from my big brother.

Although as a kid I read most any Marvel book I could get my hands on, my only strong comic book interest has always been X-Men, and especially Nightcrawler. I relate to him because I'm like him in many ways. I am a cup-is-half-full Christian (not Catholic). I am of German heritage and speak some German, but far from fluent. I love all things swords and swashbuckling, fantasy and sci-fi. I was involved in an improv acting group in college and would dearly love fencing lessons. No, no gymnastics or circus experience (I'm not terribly coordinated :LOL )

Hello all.

I'm Garble, sometimes Reverie, sometimes Garbled Reverie when the first two aren't available, and in real life I go by Andy. I'm an old schooler that was part of the original Wizard World message board thread that inspired C to make the monument, and then this place.

I'm 35, I've been a graphic designer with the same small publishing company for 11 years now, and I live with my boyfriend who I've been with for 4 years.
Sometimes I do freelance graphic design and illustration. Every now and then I do artwork just for the fun of it.

I stopped reading comics about 6 years ago because I got tired of keeping track of so many increasingly convoluted storylines and inconsistent characters that seemed to get re-defined every time a new creative staff took over (which seemed to be every 6 months). I sometimes check Wikepedia to see what's been going on with X-Men.

City of Heroes has become a crazy addiction of mine (which is weird since I don't usually dig computer or video games). My global handle there is also Garble if you happen to play.

I'm saint kurt. I was a freelance costume designer from Seattle when you met me nearly 10 years ago, worked in Chicago playing Nightcrawler for the Museum of Science and Industry, and now I'm a veterinarian in New York. I was a very active exec administrator here during some tumultuous (and fun) times. Now, it's really just my honor to keep this site ad free, non-corporate, and run by fans for fans. I love this site.

I'm a pretty busy person in real life.

I'm a small animal veterinarian with special interests in emergency medicine and orthopedic surgery. My clinic has 11 veterinarians and we see patients 7 days a week; everything from routine vaccinations to trauma.

I am also an officer in the US Army Reserves Veterinary Corps (AMEDD). As a Civil Affairs/Psy Ops veterinarian I work with teams putting public health infrastructure into places that don't have it. We're trying to help people keep healthy livestock and grow something besides opium.

I'm getting married in 2 weeks as well. In my spare time my fiancé and I are renovating a victorian home (built in 1875).

Since I only get to use the internet about once or twice a week, I'm not here much, but I always check in.

My name's Chaos. Like, IRL et. al. AKA: solely depends on the situation. :3 Joined about....two years ago after being intro'd by Scumfish/Toxic and Puppygirl (bless 'em). Virtually since joining I've been a player in the site's RPG, occasionally joining in with Forum discussions.

Outside the site I write, draw, game extensively (RPGs on board, virtual etc., videogaming), and occasionally crossdress and volunteer for charities. (I'm such a nice guy(!)). I'm at University - oh, I'm Brit-side: I live in the UK - and I'm also the self-appointed AND voted President of Nightscrawlers.com. :D

It...basically means nothing: I don't do anything important except for lording over others 'cause I'm an 'impressive' RPer at a stretch. :3

Hi everyone my name's Bob Loblaw...

No seriously, I'm Ty. I go by the handle Ult_SM86 on this forum but you'll see me in chat often as Bamfman/Bman/AmazingBman.

Some factoids about me:

I love Nightcrawler, have for quite some time now.

I've had the same best friend for 10 years straight.

I have a creative girl friend who makes knick-knacks for me, you'll see me post these knick-knacks sometimes if they're comic-book related.

I love television, but I'm mostly interested in good writing.

Same with movies. I'm definitely a movie buff. I plan on finishing a script I've been working on for two years now, sometime in the next conceivable 6 months.

I'm big-time into comic books now and only just starting to dip into past stuff which may predate when I got interested or even my birth. I love current comic writers and artists and prefer Marvel over DC. But I love a good Batman or Superman story, and my favorite DC character is Flash.

My favorite Marvel character is Spider-Man. From there, in descending order, it's Nightcrawler, Daredevil, Iron Fist, Spider-Woman, Invisible Woman, Iceman, and J. Jonah Jameson.

I've had 4 open heart surgeries. I survived all of them. :toothy

I own a poodle. His name is Teddy.

I love writing and am frequently doing so. You'll see some of my stuff in the game section found here.

In the game found on this forum I currently play Curt Connors and Julie Powers. I am picking up Danny Rand for the upcoming "semester". (If you know our game/how it works, that makes sense -- I PROMISE)

I am an atheist.

I love Mac products, and I don't care who knows it.

Sometimes I can be a total hipster, but I also know I would rather be happy with what I like/doing what I love over doing what other people think is cool so I fit in, so if drinking Starbucks hot chocolate while listening to Foster The People Remixes and writing my book in said starbucks, is hipster? Then call me hipster.

I'm from Rhode Island.

FAQ's:

Ty, is there a real life QUAHOG?
Answer: No. Not really. Since the premiere of 'Family Guy' on FOX, an area of Narragansett now calls itself that, but it's for publicity. Your GPS will recognize it as Galillee still.

Ty, do you listen to a wide variety of music?
Answer: Does a bear shit in the woods?

Ty, what is your favorite comic book series?
Answer: You need not look far for this answer. Ultimate Spider-Man by Brian Michael Bendis.

Ty, what is your favorite book series?
Answer: Either Harry Potter or Harry Potter, the second time I read it through. Not sure which. Or Redwall.

Ty, why did you feel the need to re-introduce yourself?
Answer: I see this is a great opportunity to get to know some new members to the site and help include them to our community. Because that's what this forum is, more so than any other site I've ever been a part of.

hello everyone, I'm pretty new to the site though i have been on a few internet forums before. I was asked to join up by a friend of mine so I figured no harm no foul, and all that jazz.

Me: I like long walks on the beach dinner for two and scented candles... well 2 out 3 of those are true (your guess as to which those two are).

I actually am an art student who is pretty lazy and has been playing video games most of my life. I have most recently on the suggestion of friends, and my own curiosity started reading more comics than manga and graphic novels. I have an "I could give a shit" internet sense of humor, and like to stay informed.

if you couldn't tell from the icon i picked from the avatar gallery i like runaways BUNCHES AND BUNCHES. My other regular reads are: X-23, Ult spiderman, static, batman beyond, journey into mystery, and various X-men comics.

if you want any other info let me know.

I'm Spaz or Draz, 27 years old. I work in a university in South Korea as a language instructor. It's pretty sweet, but I'm looking forward to quitting and moving to Germany. I tried really hard to like teaching but I just don't. I like the students, I like my coworkers, and I like the English language, but I still find it to be an incredibly draining job. Three more months.

I like cats and TV. I used to like Nightcrawler but I'm not so sure any more. Getting back into comics for the first time in a couple years, there is some really great stuff out there now. There's a good chance I'll keep reading even if the latest Nightcrawler tease doesn't pay off.

I guess I'll re-introduce myself too. I'm Robert, but you can call me Bob if you want. I live with my fiancee in Odessa, TX as I study to become a Mechanical Engineer (specializing Nuclear). I wait tables to support myself. I really enjoy Youtube, Twitter, Facebook, The Deadpool Bugle, this forum, Memebase, and Pottermore online. We have two small dogs and live in apartments near UTPB, our school. Currently working on a Nightcrawler costume to eventually wear to a comic con (along with a Scarlet Witch one for my girl). Oh, I'm 21 years old, been a Nighty fan since early teens. Obsessed really... Any questions or comments feel free :)

I'm Shannon(female), oldie turned noob again after returning to "Uncanny X-Force" and "Wolverine and the X-Men" after being away from the X-Men comics for more than five years. In the meantime I became addicted to English-translated horror manga, particularly the "Hellsing" series. I never lost being a fan of Nightcrawler since the mid-90's and will always be a fan of him in all his forms.

I've recently hit the big 3-0 in June with my younger brother catching up to me at 28 this past Monday. I live in southwestern Florida where I continue my pursuit of an artist's degree online via the Art Institute. I've been dealing with a rare disease known as "eosinophilic fasciitis"/"Schulman's Syndrome" since I was 17 that has affected my life, but not ended it. I may not have the best health in the world; with recent surgeries on my hand, foot and gallbladder in recent years, but I'm still here and pursuing what I love, character design and creative writing. My current degree path is Graphic Design, which is slowly progressing as I allow space for my various doctors and illnesses brought on by a compromised immune system.

Besides art and Nightcrawler, I'm also a fan of horror, fantasy and animated films and television, the video game series Rock Band and a devoted follower of the metal band Disturbed, even if they've called it quits for now. It's like my devotion to Nightcrawler, when they return in a few years, I'll be there! :D
