12/7 Announcement: Holiday Donation Drive

Postby Saint Kurt » Sun Dec 07, 2008 7:30 am

One of the coolest things about Nightscrawlers is that the members tend to stick around, often for years and years, and that makes the site feel a bit like a family.

One of the things friends and families do when one of their members falls on hard times is to "pass a jar" around and collect a little bit of cash from everyone to help out. So that's what we're doing. One of our members heard about the troubles of another and suggested to the staff that helping out might be in order.

And we loved the idea!

So, let's turn what could have been a lousy Christmas for this family into a great one.

You can give a little or a lot, using your paypal account or a credit card - since it's a donation, Paypal exempts any fees so everything we collect by December 20th will go to them to help buy gifts for their children, have a nice meal, or even pay off some bills.

We all have countless opportunities to give to charities, but this is a chance to help out one of our own!

Thanks!

12/7 Announcement: Holiday Donation Drive

I checked our account tonight and we have over $200!

That's pretty awesome you guys and there is still a week left.

I'm so glad this idea was proposed because one of my favorite things about Nightscrawlers is the way members reach out to other members.

I first joined the site while Dave was still alive and an active participant. When Dave got sick, Nightscrawlers' members were an endless source of support of encouragement to Dave, his friends and his family. It was really an incredible thing to me and it's one of the many reasons I decided to stick around.

So it's cool to see - 5 years later that this same spirit of generosity is alive and well.

:)
