Yes, I know I've gone off about this before, but its important for people to know about. The latest news on the HSUS's war against this terrible practice shows that there is still a long ways to go.

The petition stems from a Humane Society investigation that turned up products that were made with fur from dogs, wolves or raccoon dogs, a species found mainly in China, that were sold as either fake fur or other types of fur in violation of the Federal Fur Products Labeling Act.

A girl at school and her mom are active in the fight against dog fur coats that are labeled as something else, like rabbit or raccoon or some bs. They spoke out on a bill congress in trying to pass in Washington DC and we are so proud of her. I'm not too involved in it because i don't wear fur, nor do I intend to.

So not even fake fur is safe any more? Eesh.

How did they expect that people would not notice?

"Let's see, people get offended when we kill rodents and wild animals for fur... so lets use beloved pets instead!"

Jeeeze. What is wrong with these people? I am in total agreement with Garble.

And alot of the controversy isn't that dogs are used for coats, but the mode of killing used. Lethel injections aren't used or anything, their deaths are cruel and painful. Live skinnings and such... makes me sick.

Another campaign is going around with a petition to stop this. There are many ways that you can join to help. Please be warned that there are GRAPHIC images on this site. It isn't pretty. You can skip a lot of the bad stuff by clicking right to petition if that's what you wish to do.

This is a horrendous situation that is happening that very few people are aware of. Please spread the word.

I know. But if you watch it, you'll be darn well taking a look at anything you buy with a magnifying glass.

It's so hard to know that something so horrific is going on and people just don't have any idea where that 'cute coat trim' is coming from. Gah.

they're not human if they do that! i dare you not to agree with me that animals do have souls and they can feel pain just like we do. goddamnit people sometime!

Not being one to condemn the whole fur industry offhand, I nonetheless appreciate the reminder that nothing's too low for some in the industry.
