I actually saw that on the news the other night but had been waiting for a link to show people, because just...wow.
A seventeen year old kid, pretty much told to jump for the amusment of the crowd. It makes me ashamed to be British if this is how we act when people need help.

Unfortunately this is not new. The same thing happened in Seattle while I lived there.

It was in 2001. So apparently people were no better or worse then than they are now.

Wow, how awful. I can't imagine how people who loved this person must feel to those who taunted. What uglyness for them to have to live with - not only the suicide but this too.
I would have FROTHED at anyone taunting if I'd been in that crowd. It would have pushed my buttons for sure.

That's horrible. In Pennsylvania, the town we go and visit family in has a few bridges that cross the Allegheny River that people have jumped off for similiar reasons.
It actually reminds of what we just finished learning about in History class. Mobocracy and how during the French Revolution, people would end up beheaded just because the crowd needed amusement.

Couldn't decide if I should put this here or in the bad names...but this goes over bad names.

I've had that happen to me actually. I was standing on a bridge in one of my darkest moods and two kids passed by and one of them went "Are you gonna jump or what?".
didn't jump though, bridge wasn't high enough.
True story. People suck.
And as for the Adolf Hitler story, I hope there is more to it. It seems wrong to take away a happy kid from his parents, no matter how loathsome their political opinions.
