Legality of transgender marriages

Thought this was interesting, from CNN: ’Groom passes as bride, could face charges.’

Gotta say, I was surprised Kansas did anything this tolerant in 2004. ;)

But in 2004, a Kansas court ruled in favor of a male-to-female transsexual who identified as a woman to apply for marriage.

I read this last night too - I was a bit amused that the got away with it but frusterated that it's caused this much of a hullaballo. It is a sticky thing for them to pick though - what about intersex people which are born with both sexes and assigned the incorrect sex at birth - that happens quite often. Sometimes intersex people don't identify as either sex...all of this opens up such a wide problem when you try to narrowly define marriage as only being correct with someone who is obviously female and obviously male at birth.

In the meantime, there are tons of people being denied what everyone else can have - for what?

I'm actually quite pleasant until I'm awake.

That's because those people can't see the whole spectrum, just black and white.

Considering I get mistaken for a girl pretty damn often, and I have a female-to-male trans brother....yeah. It's a real shame that people just can't accept the person, just the 'gender' assigned to them at birth. It's like sexuality in that respect - just because you're gay you can't fall in love etc.

Just because you don't consider yourself the same sex as people seem to think of you as, doesn't mean you should be excluded from basic human things like marraige and love.
Those who know, don't say; those who don't, say too much.
