Now this is not my idea- I just put the words to it, learned a couple of new chords, and hope Don McLean can forgive me for adapting his commentary on the state of rock 'n roll to comic books.
Feel free to add another verse if you like.
Not so long ago in my local comic store
I nearly had a heart attack.
Lots of fans were long annoyed
with that tired comics ploy
of killing heroes and maybe bring them back.
But Marvel's choices did not thrill us.
They kept it up and toyed with us,
killed Captain America, raised Bucky,
then brought back Cap- just ducky.
I do remember how fans cried
when they Joss-ed in space poor Kitty Pryde,
but something cut me deep inside
the day Nightcrawler died.
Bye-bye, Marvel Comics. Goodbye.
With all the bollocks in the long boxes my patience ran dry,
and longtime fans of these classic good guys
said, "These comics I will no longer buy."
These comics I will no longer buy.

You've been talking to Bman, yes? (or did I even mention that idea to him? if not, great minds think alike. And you're even young, must've been a pup when it came out) And the Jossed-in-space ... another case of great minds.
Love it. Keep adding to it. Only about, what, 34 verses to go?

Yeah, the next forty-two versus would be much appreciated.
My little bro is so into parodies it's a little freaky, and I swear, he nearly wrote this song too.
Yeah, great minds think alike. Don't tell my brother I said that.

RIP Kurt Wagner. You were the character who brought in me into comics, who introduced me and inspired me. Now your death has sent me away again. Wherever you are in the Marvel Universe, I hope its someplace pleasant.Right across the lane from the demon and just down the wall from Wolverine.

The Day the X-Men Died
Well, I've come up with a final verse. I'll leave it up to anyone else to try for any of the others.
I checked out the book previews hoping to find some happy news,
and found not much to my dismay.
I went down to the comic store where I'd bought so many books before,
but the man said nothing good came in today.
And on the shelves no Banshee screamed.
None decried Cyclops' reign supreme
while lots of folks were croakin'.
Xavier's dream was broken.
And the X-Man I admired most met up with Bastion and now he's toast.
Because I'm nice I'll forgive Chris Yost. But still my hope has died.

The Day the X-Men Died
Here's a verse for somewhere in the middle.
I fondly read great books with love for an Elf with faith in God above
and the dash of Errol Flynn.
He had the heart of purest gold, a noble and heroic soul,
and he taught me how to face my trials and grin.
But as I saw that X-Force page my hands were clenched in fists of rage.
No groupthink born in Hell would make his tale end well.
I was a merry mutant fan all right,
and as I stormed off into the night
I heard Mephisto laughing with delight
the day Nightcrawler died.
