The Nightscrawlers FV&TTT Spring/Summer Writing Challenge!!!
Hi Everyone,
And welcome to a shiny new installment of the Nightscrawlers FV&TTT Spring Writing Challenge!
It's been mentioned often by Nightcrawler fans that there just hasn't been enough new Nightcrawler awesomeness available lately. If we want to revel in fun, action-packed, swashbuckling Nightcrawler goodness, we have to turn to back issues and fantastic series like Excalibur that, regretfully, petered out and died long ago. And it's pretty darn true. In the latest issue of Claremont's X-Men Forever (#19) even Kurt Wagner himself, stuck as an ordinary human, is lamenting his lamentable lack of Nightcrawlerishness, complaining he can't hang upside down and fight off pirates with three swords.
Well, for this challenge, it's up to you to change all that, at least here in this forum. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will be to craft a scene--not necessarily a full story, just one self-contained little scene--that demonstrates exactly why Nightcrawler is a superhero worthy of our admiration.
It can be an action scene, a scene of contemplation or compassion, perhaps even a scene with a romantic twist. Give us your favorite image of Nightcrawler.
Is he the playful Fuzzy Elf , one of the few characters that dares to taunt Wolverine and perhaps the only one who can successfully pry him out of a self-destructive post-murderous funk?
Is he the intimidating Nightcrawler, teleporting the heads and limbs off of Sentinels and other (mostly) mechanical baddies?
Is he the dedicated acrobat , the master fencer , the irrepressible showman , the compassionate friend?
Who is Nightcrawler to you?
Your scene can be written out (1-5 pages) or, if you'd rather show off your artistic talents, you can draw it. Either way, all entries for this challenge will be due in by Sunday, June 13, 2010. After that the poll will open and readers will get a chance to vote for their favorite Nightcrawler scene!
Good luck, everyone, and I hope you like this new challenge!

It's been three weeks, so this shouldn't count as a double post ... right??
Wondering if anyone has worked on this. I am churning out entries for a local contest but would love to take time to read whatever you guys post. I might even toss out a teensy entry myself (closer to deadline, naturally). But I miss good, fresh Crawlerfic and this sounds like SUCH a great topic. And I want to see if BlueVelvet will work ninjas into a scene.

I guess I'm giving away my picture idea, but I could use your guys' help. I'm looking for references of House of M Kurt with guns, Nocturne's dad, Kurt from X-Men: The End and the last costume he wore in Ultimate X-Men. Guess what I'm up to?

Hi Everyone!
Just popped in for a reminder: the deadline for this challenge is June 13, so there's still plenty of time to post an entry if you're interested. So if you have an idea for a scene, please enter it! We need more Nightcrawler stories!

WRITING CHALLENGE UPDATE!
Hi Everyone!
I have an update concerning the deadline and the prize for winning (what is now) the Spring/Summer Writing Challenge!
I just finished figuring out a solid pattern for a crochet Nightcrawler (approx. 14") and a crochet Bamf doll (approx 8") and I would be willing to make three of these dolls and offer them as prizes to the top three entries for this challenge!
The First Prize winner would have the choice of receiving either a 14" inch Nightcrawler or an 8" Bamf, winner's preference.
The Second and Third Prize winners would each receive an 8" Bamf.
Winners would be determined by a week-long poll after the contest deadline. But you've got to be in it to win it, so get your imaginations running!
The new deadline for this writing challenge is SATURDAY, AUGUST 14. I'm afraid I won't be able to extend that deadline, because I have to leave for Scotland at the end of August and I'd like to be able to get all the dolls made and mailed before I go.
So, if you want your very own handmade Nightcrawler/Bamf doll, all you've got to do is enter this contest and vote in the polls. No entries will be accepted after the deadline of August 14.
Good luck everyone!

Oh, man! {whines} For once I really want to win. But I don't think I have it in me. Sigh. I'll let "Tears Of A Clown" stand simply b/c it's done.
Thanks for the bribes, Rowena! I hope it will inspire much Elf-oriented wonderfulness!

I just want to say "Danke" for extending the deadline. I got caught up in my school and final to finish on time. Since I just had 6 weeks worth of drawing, I actually attempted at writing something. I'm currently editing it now. Thank you for giving me another chance to enter, I hope I can live up to the incredible writers that populate the board.

Hi Everyone,
Just a reminder: there's only 2 days left to enter this writing contest [contest ends 11:59 p.m. Aug. 14 (in your respective time zone)], so if you have an idea for an awesome Nightcrawler story now's the time to write it out!
It doesn't have to be perfect, it certainly doesn't have to be long and developed. This challenge is about coming up with a little self-contained scene that shows just why you think Kurt Wagner is worthy of the title of superhero.
And think about it - we're all upset with how Marvel murdered Kurt. This challenge is a good way to vent. Here's a chance for you to write Nightcrawler as you believe he should be portrayed. Offer good for two days only, entry must be finished and posted to the FV&TTT forum to be eligible to win.
Thanks to everyone who's entered so far!

So, I'm only seeing about four entries so far? More or less. C'mon, peeps, I will (Lord willing) actually have TIME to read more stuff next week: the grandkids will return to school, and I only had 7 entries in the contest I sponsored as part of a local writers' conference. Sooooo ... bring 'em on. I am READY for some more good Nighty action.
Even if you must dig something out of your own archives, hard drive, suitcase in back of your closet, etc., go for it. A few paragraphs, a picture or two ... I miss having lots of Challenge entries to peruse.
[of course, if nobody else enters, then I do have a slim chance of receiving a BAMF doll ... but even so ... I want to encourage all the glorious Kurtfic and yummy drawings to come forth]
