Ode to the Spork

Post by Jeremus »

As you know....Tears-Fall-Like-Glass has a new avatar. This is a tribute to the one that is now gone.....the one we got to know so well.

Ode to the Spork

Dearest Spork--
I miss you so.
Why did you leave?
Where did you go?

Was it something
that we said?
Are you lost?
(Or are you dead?)

From whence you came
We never knew.
Issues?
Yes, you had a few.

With numerous avatars
to 'click',
True, 'twas strange
that you were picked.

And your identity
was flawed,
(And yes, that too
was very odd.)

Yet you were loved
and cherished long.
So perhaps the choice
was not so wrong.

With strength and fortitude
you stood.
Watching, as
a hero should.

You did not judge.
You did not hate.
Perhaps it's that
you could not wait...

To take your destiny
in hand...
To swiftly travel
o'er the land...

To seek out truth
and save the fates
of other plastic
sporks and plates.

If this it true,
then you must go.
But before you leave,
you have to know....

We wish you well.
I do not lie.
Adios, adieu, farewell,
goodbye.

**(If anyone wishes to make a remark concerning my mental state in reference to my composing poetry about food untensils......yes, I know I may be screwed up and am probably not playing with a full deck here.....but then the Spork DID think it was Batman, so somewhere in the space/time continuum it all evens out.)

**(Not only that.....but I'm coming down from the whole "Quitting Time" insanity....and ended up drinking all the left over beer from the Wake....and ate most of Neling's cookies.....)

It's a miracle I can make the words rhyme.

That is fantastic. :LMAO

I'd comment on the mental state, but I have a poem about escalators... so I can't really say anything. ;)

Now someone needs to make a Spork Memorial Sculpture.

That was lovely, Jeremus. I'm in tears. Excuse me, I must go find my hanky.

...it seems odd that this is what pulls me out of posting retirement, but here I am.

That was quite possibly the greatest thing I've ever read. I have a new favorite poet.

I have a camping spork that I've always been quite fond of. Since weight is everything in mountaineering - why carry two utensils when you can carry one?
