Summer Writing Challenge: AND THE WINNER IS...

Post by Rowena » Wed Sep 17, 2008 1:26 am

Hi Everyone!!! :wave

The participation for the Summer Writing Challenge has been really great, and the votes are in. The winner of this challenge, leading with 63.64% of the votes, is

STEYN, for Devil's Plaything

As a prize, steyn will receive a special challenge winner's banner! :D

Thanks so much to everyone who voted, and especially to all the great authors who entered. Whether you made it to the poll or not, your stories were really fantastic!

And I'd like to extend a special thanks to Angelique. If you've gotta stop posting new fics, it's best to go out on a high note, and you really hit it with your entry. Your "Battle by the Numbers" was a truly fun, enjoyable story with great characters, and I really want to thank you for putting it up and seeing it through. :D

(P.S. I know I said I'd post the new challenge today, but I found myself unexpectedly swamped and I'll have to put it up tomorrow. Sorry for the delay!)

And now, back to the celebration:

"There are worlds out there where the sky is burning, where the sea's asleep and the rivers dream, people made of smoke and cities made of song. Somewhere there's danger, somewhere there's injustice and somewhere else the tea is getting cold. Come on, Ace, we've got work to do."
~The Doctor, Survival

"There's no point in being grown up if you can't be childish sometimes."
~The Doctor, Robot

"If this isn't civilization, why am I standing in a bomb crater?"
~Hawkeye Pierce, M.A.S.H.

Congrats, Steyn. I liked the characters' interactions, your character's issues and resourcefulness in dealing with the non-mutant world as well as the continued difficulty of adjusting to his new life, and the ambitious scope of the mission.

My only complaint- why did you have to do such a good job? I wanted to win! ;)

And thanks again to Rowena and to all the other participants for making these challenges truly outstanding.

:) thanks all. Have to admit this is the first challenge comp I've finished in years, not just about writing/ficcing, but about anything. I sometimes have the attention span of a gnat >_<
