According to this article, 666 might have just meant "Nero Caesar" because back then they used the same figures for numbers and letters.

Even so, tomorrow would be a good day for a Wedding ...OF DEATH!

I woke up at 3:30am and couldn't get back to sleep. If that isn't caused by some hideous evil, I don't know what is.

I see the sun is still rising, however.

I'm all for giving Beast his own annual spot on the calendar. A sort of blue furry guy appreciation day!

...Oh wait, I don't think they mean that beast. Well in that case, let the fundies fret (a local church is organizing a day of prayer!) and for the rest...:whocares

I'm a really big geek you guys.

I mean, you knew that, but really.

Every time someone asked me about today in that, 'hey, you know what's happening right?' tone of voice, I'd be - "Yeah - 62nd anniversary of the D-Day invasion at Normandy!"

...

Yeah.

I'm with idsunki and Elwing. I thought about the invasion of Normandy, and "Beast Day? Isn't that, like, Hank McCoy's birthday?"

Seriously, it's 06/06/06. The zeroes and slashes kind of interfere with this being the number of the Beast.

Right. If I was a woman in labor there would be no way in hell I'd wait until tomorrow to have the kid. Bring on the red eyes and fangs I'd say!

And you know there are people that really believe something will happen today because they are that fanatic.... :rolleyes

yeah, it's goofy. nothing happened the LAST several times it was 6/6/06 or /66 (1966, 1906, 1806 etc. right back until... well. 6.) nothing even happened when it was 6/6/666 so why would anything happen now? silly, i say. but yeah. some people are taking it seriously, and I have to boggle at them. I have been behind someone in line once who insisted on buying something extra when her total came to $6.66 at Mcdonalds one time.

and Slarti - LMAO!! good old Landover. should ahve known they'd come up with something good to mark the (non)occasion ;)

Our local rock station's morning show has had this Pastor Harry on several times and it's fricking amazing how nuts this guy really is.

Fear of 666 is called Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia.

At least, it would be called that if anyone could pronounce it.
