You know, my daughter is just brimming with curiosity about how Christmas is celebrated in Australia, as one of her uncles is vacationing there as we speak. Mainly, she was wondering, as so many of our Christmas carols are winter-oriented, if you sing any specifically summery Christmas songs.

we have a few, if you like i can see if i can hunt any down - its a family tradition (well sort of a tradition) that all the family (or as many as are in town - aunts, uncles, cousins,) descends on my family's house for tea, where we either have a BBQ or a roast dinner (if that isn't done for lunch)

My daughter would like to learn those. She is just in awe of the fact that it could be the dead of winter up here, and it's summer where you are. She just said it's kind of like Narnia.

Mind you i live on Australia's Southern Coast so it can range from temperate to unpredictable - for a summers day today was cool and windy

Happy Holidays to everybody!

It won't be Christmas here for 14 and 1/2 hours. It's usually warm here for Christmas, but this year we're getting a really, really thick Marine layer..so it's cold for half the day, and wind later.

That must be harsh! three hotest places I've been are Florida, Grand Canyon and Las Vegas; and Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon get snow...I can't imagine what it's like in Australia.

Congrats, Bamfette. And here's to making sure that the new little one doesn't get ripped off out of birthday and Christmas presents.

This also reminds me of a card we gave to my grandfather once. (He would have been 89 on the 23rd.)
