Poetry Anyone?

Post by ^Sulfurous^ »

Hi, everybody! (Again..)
I have a mildly strange question for you!
I, personally, write a lot of poetry, and I was wondering if anybody else here was a poet? (Because I'm like that.. Yeah..) I have a weird habit of rhyming a lot (it gets really annoying sometimes :smirk ), so I write an awful lot of poetry. I even got a haiku (not my strong suit at all..) published in some book for a school something-or-other..
Anyway, mom always tells me my poetry and sketches and writing and etc. is good, but I'd enjoy a few unbiased opinions on my poetry, and maybe some of yours. :D I'm nothing for the punctuations.. Hehe.. Oh, well. :P
Just wrote this one (out of the blue, like all the others)... It makes a lot of sense to me, but I want to know just how nonsensical it REALLY is.

Process

There's not a lot that makes sense,
every time I hit that fence,
of cold hard facts,
and cold hard reality.
I tell myself it's not just me.
Everyone gets left behind.
Everyone loses a little mind.
But it's personal when you're you.
And it's personal when I'm me.
Because some things we can't learn,
And some grades we can never earn.
Some people we can never meet,
and some foods we'll never eat.
But it's not a thing you can change,
and it's not the reason you remain.
Thrown down against the brick wall of fact,
when getting caught in the act,
of thinking a little differently,
and learning how to really see
what's truth and fact,
and what's imaginary.
So I'll tell you one last time:
It's bigger than some stupid rhyme,
if you can't imagine,
nothing good can happen.

Here's the one I got published several years ago, like seventh grade. Personally, I *HATE* it, but, I guess everyone else's poems must have sucked... j/k.. :rolleyes

Stormy Weather

Dark night, blowing winds
Howling wolves, booming thunder
Lightning flashes bright

Pretty nice Sulfurous!

I dont really in general like writing poetry because its just been a thing I obsess on to point I never feel its good enough but thats a story on to its self any way heres one of my few.

I will Remember

How does one remember a loved one so dear?
One who’s absence leaves you filled with fear

The fear that you might never once again
Possess the ability to even hear from them

For they were the type of person you felt so blessed to know
Acting as a beckon of light in a storm full of snow

How does one remember a voice or a face?
Or just a single memory of a long ago embrace?

Long ago times of Christmas in December
It is because of memories like these that I will remember!

Kinda a cheese, I know!:rolleyes

I don't think that's nonsensical at all ^Sulferous^, but maybe thats just the way I think:toothy

I write poetry from time to time, but not lately. This one was for a poetry unit we did in engilsh.

A Dream

Lost in silence,
Trying to wake,
From endless violence
Of vibrant dreams,
To be shoved aside
And forgotten,
With little pride,
Only to fall back,
Into a slumber.
Innocense gone,
Thoughts fragile as glass,
Memories creeping
Back from the past
Clear as day.
Eyes open with ease,
To find acceptance,
The only way from the dream
And the only way to find peace.

If ya don't understand, it's about accepting things that you have done in your past, and with that acceptance it will help ease bad dreams and old memories.

Thats my two cents.:bamf
