Edward Norton, previously of Fight Club fame, was turned into Bruce Banner, mild mannered bio-chemist or whathaveyou, who accidentally turns himself into the Large, Angry, Green, Incredible Hulk while trying to replicate the Super Soldier Serum.

Unfortunately, the first Hulk film "Hulk" by Ang Lee was a total flop so they invited Leterrier (who is known for directing "The Transporter" and most recently "Clash Of The Titans" remake), to direct the sorta/kinda sequel that rehashes the origins in the opening credits and begins with an entirely new story (and cast).

Norton made it to this cast and many, many, many fans felt this was a better choice than Hard-Chinned Eric Bana (Pronounced Baña or BANYA).

"Incredible Hulk" Starring Norton, Liv Tyler as Betty Ross, and William Hurt as Thunderbolt Ross was a smash success and a lead in to the 2012 "Avengers" film.

However; as of quite recently, an announcement was made (much to the dismay of many fans and Marvel creators--seriously Twitter exploded after this) that Norton was no longer on to play Banner or Hulk.

Well, Norton was pissed. And you really wouldn't like him when he's angry.

Here's what he (through his Agent) had to say about that.

He actually is quite polite, but you can taste the venom inbetween the lines.

So what do you guys think? Announcing Chris Evans, rebooting the series of Spider-Man with a British Red-head as Peter....

I feel they may be repeating some old mistakes, even though they're now in control of their product (where as perviously Fox made final decisions on X-Films/F4-Films and Sony on Spidey Films).

This is very stupid. Marvel wants the money, but they're not willing to invest into it, counting on fanboys and girls just being dedicated enough to watch a movie without the person who basically MADE the whole Hulk-franchise as the movie-version. Avatar says they are seriously mistaken.

got forwarded this via email from a friend:
The search is on for yet another actor to play "The Incredible Hulk" after Marvel Studios confirmed that Edward Norton will not reprise his role as the gargantuan green monster for the upcoming superhero ensemble movie "The Avengers."
Eric Bana was the first actor to play the Hulk on the big-screen in 2003, with Norton taking on the character in a 2008 reboot. As EW reported at the time, that production was fraught with drama.

Norton, 40, reportedly refused to promote the flick because he was unhappy with its final cut: he wanted a longer, more detailed movie while Marvel went with a faster, edited version.
So it's not exactly surprising that Marvel has announced that they're searching for a replacement to team up with Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Scarlett Johansson (the Black Widow), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Chris Evans (Captain America) and Chris Hemsworth (Thor) for "The Avengers."
"Our decision is definitely not one based on monetary factors, but instead rooted in the need for an actor who embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members," Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said in a statement, according to MTV.
" 'The Avengers' demands players who thrive working as part of an ensemble, as evidenced by Robert, Chris H, Chris E, Sam, Scarlett, and all of our talented casts," Feige said. "We are looking to announce a name actor who fulfills these requirements, and is passionate about the iconic role in the coming weeks."
That announcement is expected to happen at Comic-Con on July 24, where Feige will be on hand to give sneak peeks to the "Thor" and "Captain America" flicks currently in development.

That's all part of the link I posted from SuperheroHype as well.

I find it hard to believe that Leterrier had a problem with Norton helping him devise the movie being the two sat down together for making so much of it. If you watch the special features, their relationship throughout that film was similar to Nolan's & Bale's in the two Batman films.

Ahh, hell... >.>

Marvel are doing a very 'step, step, trip, fall, die, attempt-to-style-out' tactic here... does not like, I does. :( xx

ah didn't realize that it was part of link... hehe like said i go this in my email

anyway, i know what your talking about i watched the special features too, they seemed to both be intimately involved in the creation. And Norton seemed really into it. Was kinda like watchin the SP on the first Hulk film, but instead of the director portraying/acting out the hulk parts the actor did. but back to the Norton SP, there was stuff i saw norton doing on the behind the scenes that didnt' make the final movie. Was this artistic differences, budget constraints... who knows.

Has Norton ever before done a lot of publicity for a movie he's done? Is this just more Marvel Propaganda to boost their position? or did behind closed doors out of the camera's eyes was Norton a pain to work with. Regardless of the end product working with someone who's a pain can be bad. I've done some photo projects where the end result is great, but the process on working with the model sucked really hard. So much that i would not do work with them again.

However, the end result is Norton is gone, and hopefully they find someone to replace him that can pull the role off.

Well, the rumor is it's Ruffafalo. Not too bad for Banner but I dunno if he can do "Hulk".

Ruffafalo is an interesting actor, I've seen movies with him doing the sappy love interest to harder films where he plays a homicidal dirty cop. he is def a character actor. Though one reason i liked Norton was besides his strong acting chops, he actually was skinny enough to b banner...
