The south african rand seems to be getting a bit better. Good enough to aim for a ps4, not good enough for a new graphics card. Man i wish i was rich... but..um yay ps4? At least the games here seems to be a bit cheaper than sa as well, so thats also good.... guess...

One of the lovely things about having an emotional support trainee for a puppy is that I'm not the only one he helps. While Marshall (the dog) and I were at the store, we heard a thump followed by a toddler crying. Apparently the kid had given himself an owie as a result of typical toddler uncoordination. I asked if the kid would like to pet the doggie. Marshall agreed that the kid was a good candidate for canine therapy, and gave him a great, big, sloppy kiss. The kid stopped crying, looked suprised for a bit, then bust up laughing.

So "Frozen" wasn't that bad...

I was engaged... fifteen years ago, give or take. Congrats, everybody!

Yesterday finally marked my triumphant return to the ski slopes over a year post car wreck. Those tears on my face after my first couple of runs weren't tears of pain, but of sheer joy!

Then hubby took the kids and me out to see The Lego Movie tonight.

I'm even happier seeing that others are having great weekends.

Just found out who's the new surprise guest for the Kansas City Comicon later this month.

A couple of years ago, I was privileged to meet two of the loveliest people ever, a couple remaining strong through nearly five very harrowing years, wondering if their son was alive and if they'd ever see him again.

Today, while at a book signing celebrating the tenth anniversary of my local comic book store, the news was relayed to me, and I dropped everything to check the news sites for confirmation. Soon, all of us at the comic book store were celebrating much more than just the shop's anniversary.

That lovely couple's son, after so many years as a prisoner of war, was released and will be coming home!

Got approved for an US Visa. Now i can visit Amedica!

Sooooo...in my long absence (I MISSED YOU GUYS) I have:

• Got a job as an Actual Paid Artist - I design book covers (both ebooks and physical copies) for a small publishing company
• Finally got myself to a dentist and had some pretty extensive work done on my mouth - I can smile again!
• Not only am I an artist for a company, but my freelance commissions are taking off...though being paid to draw dragon peen is not my idea of a Good Time
• Been a year on testosterone (though my GIC is being...less than cooperative)
• Moved! To a place with no stairs!
• Oh, did I mention I work from home? I work from home. It's awesome.

So yeah. Been busy XD

......paid artist.... I am so frikken jealous of you right now.

So, I normally don't post in the Coffee threads, but I have some great news!! I've been looking for a job as an entry level mechanical engineer for the last two years with no luck. Well.... tomorrow I am going to have an onsite interview with Savannah River Nuclear Solutions in Aiken, South Carolina. They are flying me out to speak with them. I am preparing and getting ready, and I would love to work there. It would be a dream job, if I got it. I'll let you know how it goes, but for now, study study study!

UPDATE: I GOT THE JOB!! I am so happy!! I move sometime in the next month or so to Augusta GA, so I have a lot of preparing to do!

TL;DR: Despite crippling dental phobia, I have all my teeth back!

Long story: I have insane dental phobia. No particular reason (besides deep-seated mental issues that are for a psychiatrist's ears only) but it's meant that I haven't been able bring myself to go into a dental practice even to wait with someone ever in my entire life. Which...wasn't great when because of a combination of poor dental hygiene and use and abuse of drugs as a kid meant I started losing teeth about seven years back.

Every year I've had the New Year's Resolution to get my ass into a dental clinic. This year, I managed it...eventually. April 22nd, I managed to get an appointment after getting a dose of diazepam off my doc to help with the panic attacks (it's not just me disliking dentists, I'm actually that scared I will go into full-blown panic at just the thought). Since then, I've been in the surgery every week, and I mean every week, on a strong dose of diazepam. I've had so many extractions, fillings and even a nerve removal, and Monday saw me getting my false teeth. Tomorrow sees my last appointment for three months. The big thing is I can now smile without hiding my mouth and go out for dinner without feeling so incredibly self-concious! For the first time in years, I have a full set of teeth and I'm no longer ashamed to smile in public.

...The only problem is learning to eat/get used to the false teeth is a pain in the ass XD I'm lisping like hell right now ^__^

This coffee really does taste astounding!

BECAUSE I JUST GOT HIRED AT STARBUCKS!! START TUESDAY MORNING!!!
