One of the dogs, the new cat, and the hubby all had checkups today.

The dog is still a bit overweight, but not as badly as at her last visit.

Hubby has a tiny bit of hearing loss (what did I keep telling him?) but is fine.

Kitty is a very healthy (considering how we ended up with the cat) 10 week old boy. Furthermore, there have been no calls made to the local shelters about missing ginger kittens. Welcome to the family Logan James (so called because the vet wanted to know what name to put on the paperwork as the cat was clinging to his shirt)!

Co Worker A - YOU ROCK! And deserve to be paraded down main street with tons of flair and pomp and circumstance! XOXOXOX You totally saved the day!

:love

Thank god for awesome co workers who understand Emergency means I need to get out of bed and help a co worker out!

Any ideas on what I can do for her? I was going to make a card for her, or get her a teavanna giftcard.

Not to be a party pooper, but as near as I can tell, that's a gibbon. Meaning ape, not monkey. O' course, it *could* be a spider monkey or some such.

Resume celebration.

Okay. It is a dancing drunken gibbon. It has now been joined by a dancing Kurt and a banana:

:dance:banana

Hey Elfdame! I just checked, and the gibbon is labeled "monkey".

Yeah, but putting a label on s/t (I checked it, too) does not make it so. I mean, people called me a freak when I was younger, but ... um, okay, bad choice of example.

Doesn't matter ... let the smileys dance in support of the dear Fuzzy One!

My sister's getting married in August, and she's finally given me a job to do! Any green five foot round tablecloths looking for a home?

As it turns out, I am getting paid to play with puppies and kittens all day!

And here I'd been propagating the rumor that that's not what vets do. oops.

Just keep an eye out for the parrots. "Beak like a can opener" is how Hubby describes his. ;>

Oh, I know that's what vets really do. It's the techs that do the not-so-fun stuff like taking temperatures. Our vet gets to deliver good news while petting the dog and letting the cat treat him like a human climbing tower.

As for other news, my daughter's now fearless when it comes to the diving board. My son has learned back and side strokes. I swam 20 laps, and the hot tub, which had been closed for maintenance, was reopened today.

After being without A/C all day yesterday, around 2AM it occurred to us to check the breaker box. Sure enough, it was just a tripped breaker!!
So - HURRAY!!! Back in the cool A/C this morning without having to shell out big bucks for a repair call!

I found the most amazing thing at the cat shelter tonight. It's called "Shed Killer" and it was just like in this picture.

Image

Except with more cats. I spent around two hours chasing cats around with this thing. Some of them really loved it. A cat that never let me touch her before even tolerated a couple minutes of it. Clouds of cat hair.

Most of the cats have short hair but there's a new cat that looks like a Persian. He's too shy for it now, but maybe next time. He's kind of ratty-looking, so I know he's just full of dead hair ready to be pulled out with my new favourite toy. :cracked

That's hilarious spaz. Glad that you did so good with it! And yay for volunteering for the shelter - didn't know that you were there still. I'm really curious about how things are there and how the shelters are run.

All my various recent medical tests came back clean...so except for the iron levels being through the floor (and my overall roundness...which I'm currently working on), I'm perfectly healthy.

You can check their website. Most of it is in Korean, but there is some English. http://www.nabiya.org/

Man, I didn't even notice the other night that my little sweetiebee was gone. She's on the adopted page though. She was one of my favourites, I was really surprised she stayed at the shelter so long.
