We've got nothing like this around here (except for the High School haunted house which is okay, but not spectacular).
Please tell us how it works out!
Thanks! Yeah, I think it's already gonna be really fun. :D

I had a really excellent weekend.

On Friday (technically not weekend) I removed a 3 pound (!!!) tumor from a dog, had lunch with an old friend, and was finished seeing patients an hour early. On Saturday I ran my new MINI through its paces in my first autocross in years. And today I slept in and generally chilled out.

:)

This weekend was full of awesome. Visited my old stomping grounds over the weekend. Had dinner with my best friend from college and her husband. Watched my kids and students totally clean up in music and dance competitions. Celebrated their victories at my old favorite pub.

Finally figured out why the hell I have what feels like a "bad hip" at my age. I've been getting out of bed funny! (Seriously.)

Downside: must find new bed.

On the upside of the power going out, at least I have a new router ready to install. My brother gave me back the power box thing for it.

He'd stolen it.

Got to chill with my best friend in college today (she just got over the swine flu. Insane). Wrote a couple thousand words on my manuscript, so now my editor isn't trying to bite my head off any more! W00t. Second job starts next week. Eight-year-old sister just fell in love with Nighty. Life is good. :D

My birthday on Friday, with chocolate cake!

Talk Like a Pirate day on Saturday...Arrr!

And I danced at the powwow on Sunday, and had two compliments on my dress. :)

Yesterday I found the comic book store in my town (which also sells regular books and random memorabilia) squeezed my way between tall, dark bookshelves until I found the Marvel comics section.... AND BOUGHT MY FIRST COMIC BOOKS FOR MYSELF!

Yes, the first four issues of X-Men: Noir, and Uncanny #515. Me so happy!

Course, I just gotta mention... Scott's a crappy and tactless leader, isn't he?

RIP Kurt Wagner. You were the character who brought in me into comics, who introduced me and inspired me. Now your death has sent me away again. Wherever you are in the Marvel Universe, I hope its someplace pleasant.

Traditional. At my age, I don't think I would have the stamina for fancy shawl or jingle.

Yesterday, I went to a portfolio review thing at a college downtown because representatives from the Art Institute of Chicago were going to be there. The lady I had was less than helpful when it came to what was the best way to submit a portfolio, and I was so nervous I could barely speak...

Buuut, she liked my ideas and recommended me for admission.

Oh, the cat came back. :P

Typo the office kitty, after a massive and fruitless search effort, wandered back to the office on his own and is now taking a super power nap on a desk.

Yay for Slarti. :D

HA!! For our senior sweatshirts, since my class is the class of 2010, our theme will be X-Men (Roman numeral X=10)! Granted, it'll be Wolverine's claws on the back of the sweatshirts, but I'll pin Nightcrawler to mine or something.

I love new sketchpads!! Love them so much. Nothing like an empty book ripe for doodling in.

Hee. I wish my class was that smart. Ours shirts are kinda funny. On the front they say "senior citizens", and the back says "respect your elders".

Anyway... today I got the CD I've waited three months for, and I didn't even have to battle my mp3 player in order to fit it on there. :dance

I almost successfully resisted the temptation to sing, "The cat came back the very next day...."

I also finished drafting a script for this project:

I finally bought myself a video camera and filmed my dad talking about his WWII experiences, plus a little bit about his childhood. He's 88. I didn't want his memories to be lost. Now I have them recorded for his grand-children and his great-grand-children. :)
