Had to brag on Scotty Prime a bit. When he was hired for his new job, they told him they were hiring him for management track and we assumed they were just blowing smoke.

Apparently not. After six months on the job, Scotty got chosen by the corporate office to serve on a national steering committee! And he gets overtime pay for his work on this committee. Woot, woot!

Just in the nick of time, the orthodontist decided to take all my son's braces off and get him fitted for new retainers and all the other orthodontia he'll need over the next year. Since our insurance doesn't run out until next week, all that's covered.

Dad's recovering pretty well, will have to have some chemo or radiation to deal with a few abnormal bits and baubles the surgeon knows was left but it's a pretty good prognosis.

So my moving schedule is also back on schedule which is a good thing as I'm heading right off to post in the ass post after this!

Last January, I had a snowboarding accident that cracked a bone in my leg right at the knee, damaged two knee ligaments and the patellar tendon, dislocated my kneecap, and sprained my hip. After months of acupuncture, rigorous physical therapy, and narrowly avoiding the need for knee surgery, we thought I was fully rehabilitated. I'd even gone on to run a couple of mini-marathons since. However, the true test of my recovery came today.

I hit the slopes again- on telemark skis, to boot, and my leg feels a bit like achy jello, but still a lot better than I expected.

My mom's general doctor has been scaring the crap out of her telling her she needs open heart surgery to repair a leaking heart valve. Today she went to the cardiologist and he said it's not that bad and it can probably be controlled with meds.

But yeah these days you can treat most cardiac problems with medication for awhile before (usually) inevitable surgery. Good luck Slarti!

It wasn't so much a haircut as a lifestyle change- one that means it only takes three seconds to comb my hair instead of anywhere from five to forty five minutes with any amount of hair pulling involved. I feel so liberated.

Rumor of a new Family Muppet show coming to Disney and an evening Muppet show for the whole family (little older though, maybe 10?) for Sundays on ABC.

We'll see if it remains true. I bet it'll get announced if they win the Grammy for best soundtrack (song from a soundtrack is it?)

Child is sick, which isn't so great. I was getting ready to get up to get him up for school, and he had a coughing fit. I went to get him up and asked if he was going to throw up... He promptly leaned over the side of his bed and did so.

But on the bright side... I don't have to go pick him up from school today, and it's a Friday. If he was sick any other day, he wouldn't have been able to go back to school because they have to be fever-free for two days. ...And, I'm not opposed to watching Superhero Squad all day.

Our dog was playing with Matthew earlier (she tends to follow him around everywhere when we have him) this evening and got a hold of an extension cord on accident. ><

Only reason this isn't in the other thread is because my brother is totally awesome and was smart enough to pull the plug out of the wall. Other than the shock and being generally freaked out, she's alright. Matthew was also freaked out and crying afterward, but he's okay too now that he realizes the dog's okay. He hugged her and told her he loved her before he went to bed.
