Actually, the story I heard was there were too many solo series and not enough readers for all of them. The real tragedy is that Cable kept his book (well, shares it with Deadpool) and everyone else loses out.
I personally didn't like the way they were headed in the solo series (too dark) but then change the writer, change the artist, but don't cancel the series. They make it seem like Wolverine was soooo popular when it came out or Cable, but the writers believed in the characters or the editors believed in the characters or in the writers and they kept plugging away until they formed some good stories.
Kurt should be a writer's dream: unique look, special assortment of powers, conflict and drama in his background, great personality, connections to many interesting heroes and villians, mutant angst, um, what did I miss? He is a natural showman, acrobat, and martial artist. His powers make him one of the sneakiest characters in the MU. I am not a writer and I can think of like 10 to 15 good solid plots that you can do with him.
Since Kurt gets along with just about everyone, maybe they should do a Marvel Team Up-type series with Kurt and somebody else working together. It could give a chance for other characters to shine but keep Kurt in the limelight. It worked for Spiderman.
