Kurt's love interest?

I was always a bit bugged by Kurt dating Amanda Sefton. They may not be related, but they grew up together, considered each other siblings, and called the same woman "Mother." Unless Nightcrawler didn't fully consider himself a member of the family, or wasn't considered himself, it really doesn't "click" to me.

"I don't care that we were raised as siblings, let's get involved anyway!"

That doesn't seem like Kurt at all. It seems more like "demon appearance with the human heart of gold" duality, "Catholic man having a sexual relationship with his sister (ie biblically immoral but technically not genetic siblings)" duality. And I dunno, it just doesn't work. It seems forced by the writer somehow. Can somebody explain this to me? I don't know all there is to their relationship. I might be missing something.

Has Amanda even been seen lately?

I'm not sure who Kurt should or would have a relationship with.

In a nutshell, Amanda meets Kurt. Amanda gets involved with Kurt, who doesn't yet know who she really is. Amanda reveals herself to be Jimaine Szardos. Kurt takes her back despite knowing how badly he'd been lied to. Kurt later wonders if he really loved her or was just under a spell. Amanda leaves. Amanda returns and joins Excalibur. Amanda leaves again, except this time she's not really Amanda, because she and Margali switched bodies or something like that.

It's so convoluted, I think we're all missing something.

Amanda now rules limbo, and is seen in the solo series.

But...in Excalibur -1 it showed they had a relationship BEFORE he left the circus. The fact that he's also more important to Jimaine is one of the things that sent Stefan caa-caa-cooky...maybe THAT'S a relationship that should be looked into, eh?

Those panels are from the "minus 1" issue, all of which are absolutely not canon as far as I'm concerned. See that shitty art? The writing on them was JUST AS BAD. Quick, cheap fill-ins; I'm guessing the real point was to give the regular artists a break for a month. I stick them on the "What If?" pile with the firm hope that they are so bad no actual writer could get through them to use as back story anyway.

Okay...fair enough...but what about Kurt's dream/memory from Nightcrawler #8?

Could be more dream than memory. At any rate, that whole relationship was just sick, it's over, and the less ink writers spend on it now, the better. Kurt has to move on.
