I finally got to see the the movie! I agree, it wasn't too bad. I would have liked that our merry band of mutants wasn't more like Evolution-X and that Mystique and Magnito weren't constantly central figures, but it was definitely worth watching.

What I liked: Kurt was often the comedy relief, but he always made intelligent decisions as we should expect from Kurt. He took on Archangel, outwitting him both times. The Quicksilver sequence of saving the students was entertaining even if his speed was so totally exaggerated. Having Phoenix appear and finish off Apocalypse was awesome! I also enjoyed the way the movie ended in the danger room, some of them in costumes with a nod to the comics.

What I didn't like: So much time being spent on Magneto and Mystique. Lets hope the next movie doesn't continue to keep beating that dead horse. Moira in Egypt to witness the rising of Apocalypse was contrived imho. Suggesting that Ororo got some of her powers and her white hair thanks to Apocalypse annoyed me as a Storm fan, as did the "Mystique's my hero" nonsense. The Weapon X section was so unnecessary! What a waste of time just to bring in all the slash and blood and a small Wolverine part. I would have rather had the mall scene. More Kurt would have been good too, but that goes without saying.

All in all, I would have been happier if we could have some X-movies without Singer's influence, but we are stuck with him. At least we can be thankful we are still getting X-Men movies. I can't wait for the Blue-ray release.

Kodi Smit-McPhee's instagram has a better look at Kurt's end of the film costume.

That's his girlfriend, who apparently went through the make-up process out of support.

I also found a concept art design for the jacket he wears during the cagematch.

Gotta admit I'm disapointed they left Kurt off the BluRay cover.
