Can Nightcrawlwer work in X-Men: Apocalypse (2016 film)?

I have been wondering for a while why they didn't take the opportunity to introduce Kurt Wagner again in Days of Future Past. I suppose there's the excuse that he isn't part of that storyline, really, so they didn't include him. Lame. A better excuse is that Azazel was not going to be in this picture either so there goes the awesome family reunion everyone was hoping for as well (being Mystique & he were in the same movie and exchanged, at best, a glance).

So now I'm wondering... what are they going to do when they make the Apocalypse movie? Granted -- When Singer announced it, it was right off the heels of James Howlett- I mean Hugh Jackman, announcing he'd do something like 3-5 more X-movies (bad idea, Gramps but we'll see). So, you can assume that if there's an Apocalypse storyline,... it's going to revolve around Marvel's favorite buttboy and there will be story altering.

That said -- Kurt Darkholme is a major part of the Apocalypse storyline... to not have him even present is (in my opinion) a great disservice to the storyline. Forget the fact that I'm a Nightcrawler fan, not having him present in the X-Men: Apocalypse film is really a bad move on Fox/Marvel's part... Critical scenes of conflict and character development on Weapon-X's part to get him from point A to point B are going to revolve around everything from Gambit's X-Ternals to Kurt's X-Calibur. (Just realized how lame those re-branded titles were... X-tremely lame.) Darkholme is a great alternate version of a great character.

But when I stop to think about how stupid it would be if he weren't in the movie... I then realize I don't know how they could possibly make it work. They haven't reused Wagner recently enough to make the schtick of Darkholme really stand out. In fact, I'm not sure if most of the characters have been utilized properly to recreate both the 4 Horsemen and the Apocalypse rebels or whatever they are. The continuity they've built (for the most part) excludes Kurt (and many many others)... and if DoFP really is the Star Trek (2009) to the X-Men franchise... then his relevance might become completely irrelevant after all.

Hmmmm.... :?

What do you cats think?
