Only Skin- the Mohawk is a classic 80's iconic look she has returned to recently with her separation from T'chalks/Death of many X-Men,AVX, etc... It is explained further in Uncanny XForce.

So I was there in the panel when they announced it! Let me tell you I screamed and cheered and made a scene. I am wearing full Nightcrawler gear today as well, so that added to my fanatic cred. I will post a pic of the announcement from my POV when I can. I was even on the aisle so I could ask then about it, but I didn't have to! They said Jason Aaron loves Nightcrawler, which gives me great hope. It's funny, they said "So, who wants Nightcrawler to stay dead? Nobody? Well who wants us to bring him back? Well, it's unanimous".. I lost my shit.

More details.
So, it seems he won't exactly be alive, but I'll take what I can get. :D

It's a bit of a reimagining for what is a full on Nightcrawler adventure story in a lot of ways. So you can of course imagine that there will be lots of swashbuckling.
That alone makes it worthwhile, and I'm still betting that the end of the arc will be his actual return to life.

More from Newsarama!

Jason Aaron's quotes really make me confident here:
From Wolverine and the X-Men issue #1, we were always building towards this Nightcrawler story. That’s why those Bamfs have been there this whole time. That’s all been leading somewhere. When it came time to do that story, it seemed such a different story than what we’ve been doing in Wolverine and the X-Men. It’s a story that doesn’t involve the school, it takes place away from the school; doesn’t involve the students. It’s really an old-school X-Men adventure. It already seemed a departure from what Wolverine and the X-Men had become, so it made sense to make it a total departure, and just make it the beginning of its own new series.

And how about Ed McGuiness' drawing style? I absolutely love the look he brings to all the characters, especially Nightcrawler. I just bought the issue of X-Men where everyone goes into Nightcrawler's Inferno, and I think this us the perfect method of "bringing him back". It both pays homage to the classics and ties in his spiritual nature. I am going to get all the back issues of WatXM, lol...

As long as this is "happy, swashbuckling Nightcrawler" who is back, rather than "brooding, melancholy Nightcrawler," then I am happy.

It appears to be just that. I'm so psyched for this, I might just stop reading another book and get all the variants of this series.

Even more.
IGN and ComicVine!!
I love writing stories about the Jean Grey School, but this new series is all about X-Men being X-Men. This is Wolverine leading his band of merry mutants on the biggest, grandest adventures I can think of. Basically I want this to seem like an ongoing X-Men event book. Every month, nothing less than the fate of the Marvel Universe will be at stake. And the Amazing X-Men are the only ones who can save it. - Aaron

Getting all issues of Wolve&theXmen is much recommended, by the way. Fairly consistently hilarious stuff. And we'll have to wait and see what they do with this, but I'm cautiously optimistic!

This is a great podcast that I listen to. Obviously from their name, you can tell they are Kurt-fans. Take a listen to the most recent episode of BAMF! Radio. (This link goes to their Twitter page, other links to episodes can be found off of it, or on the iTunes site.)

Cautiously optimistic is a good way to put it. From the interviews I've been reading with Aaron, he seems to really love the character, and he's already addressed the lack of fun element to him in recent history. Fingers crossed!!!!
