Nightcrawler's Age?

Post by maria »

Hello, this is my first post here. ^_^ It's sort of a silly question, but I've always wondered and I haven't been able to find an answer. Does anyone know Kurt's age? Within the X-Men universe I mean. How old is he right now and how old was he when he met Proffesor X?

Nightcrawler's Age?

Post by Abbatoir »

Welcome Maria. The answer to your question lies somewhere in the "Nighty's getting a girlfriend!" thread but to save you the trouble he's somewhere around 27. When he joined the X-Men I think he was around 17-18. Not sure exactly. Hope that helps.

Nightcrawler's Age?

Post by kurtlover »

Hello maria, nice to meet you and welcome here, this thing about Nighty's age has been discussed before, i can't find the link so if anybody would be so kind to provide it i will be more than happy :)
Anyway, appearently he is in his mid or late twenties (around 27 or 28), when he meet professor X he was 20, because he celebrates his 21th birthday in annual #4, after joining the X-men.

I acually sat down one night and worked out the passage of time and everyone's ages perfectly! Then I went and spilt coffee on it.
I did work out that Kurt was around 27 though, which must be right, as everyone seems to be saying that!

But...

I feel really old now

Post by ChastMastr »

I was 13 when X-Men Annual #4 came out in 1980 and Kurt was 21 then.

I'm 35 now.

Kurt should be 43 or 44 now, really...

(I was Kitty's age when she was introduced. If she'd aged normally she would also be 35. It'll be vaguely strange in ten years when the year 2013(1) is actually here and there are no Sentinels prowling the streets, but then 1984(2) and 2001(3) were kind of odd too...)

Yound isn't he? I feel bad for wolvy. He has no idea how old he is, but he knows it's all in the realm of ossibility that he could be more than 20 years older than all of 'em. (inclidng :prof: )

Actually check the time period of Origin, and you might get an idea of how old Wolvie could be.

.......And BTW, speaking of the issue when Kurt turns 21, I thought it was sad when I was reading it that when he died, like, his friends were sad but not really. They were like "Oh nuts, he's dead. Oh well."

Didn't Logan crush his beer can or something when they found out he was dead? I think that meant he was real upset. :)
Or else he was out of beer.

Fist, I would pick him somewhere between 25 and 30.. Remember that the Uncanny Xmen where published in a monthly rhythm and that screws up a direct timelime a bit. *grin*.

Now about the Annual. I thought it was good how they depicted the X-Mans reaction to the "death" of Kurt. It was not a theatralic wailing like they would bring in a movie, but more a realistic shock.
I dont know if any of you has lost someone really close, and the X-Men in that period are more like a family, but when something like that happens, it takes a while till it really sinks in.

But couldn't that make a great storyline?! The characters bumping into themselves in the middle of the Future Past stories, and maybe changing what happened... plenty of retcon opportunities if needed, too. :D

I'd love to see someone like Grant Morrison take that on - he has the kind of twisted brain that could work with that.

Moonlite Tears - if you mean why don't they say characters ages, it is becuase they do not like to state those kinds of things in the comics, creates continuity messes, and they typically want these storeis to be timeless. so specific ages are very rarely stated. but Chuck writes him as around 27.

if you're wondering why 428 said '20 years ago' well... that was just a mistake on the part of the editors... and is pretty much the reason ages are so rarely stated. no two people can usually agree.

Comic characters are like soap opera characters. Even though soap opera characrers are played by the same people something keeps them from ageing.

I rememebr when the cartoon doug came out. He was 11 I was 11 and then when he went to ABC he was just entering High school when I had already dropped out of college.
