Alright, here's a question for all you Kurt fans, could you tell me some of the german phrases Kurt is prone to using?

How about a one-word phrase to show extreme frustration. Like "damn" or "d'oh". Would "ach" work?

"Ach" is probably the most common. It basically means "Oh"

He says "Mein Gott!" alot, which means "My God"

Doesn't he say "Verdammt" or something like that sometimes? I don't speak German, but I'm guessing that's what it means

Theres "mein freund" (my friend). Excuse me if it's spelt wrong, I don't remember anything when I learnt German all those years ago....although I would take it up again if granted the opportunity....

I wondered what "Verdamnt" meant...

Ach, means not frustration!!!!
Ach, is a phrase you use of reasons.
Ach... ? - Really?
Ach manno/mensch -hey/ (sometimes the fustrated version)
Ach! slaps the forehead:) - now i get it...
Achso....ah s.o.
achja- sigh
phrase of frust:
Verdammt(damn- hallo he is a Priest!)
Mist!
stronger:Ach mist !
I don´t know what he use but I guess he is not so often frustrated and when he may use verdammt, verflixt or may varios Lokal words...:

I think Auf Wiederzehn is good-bye. Katzchen I think means cat or kitty. I look them up in a german-to-english book of my friends and if I remember right thats what those mean. Jogut you can correct me if I'm wrong. ;)

it's not too hard to figure out usually just from the context they are used in... mein=my slap on gott, freund or whatever. they even sound remarkably similar to the English counterparts....

Mein Gott/freund (my God/friend)
Guten Tag/Abend/Nacht (good day/evening/night)
Auf Weideshen (bye)
Sehr Gut (very good, i think?)
Fraulein (miss... sorta should probably be Frau tho in most cases)
Herr (sir)
Katzchen (kitty or kitten)
Liebchen (a term of endearment similar to sweetheart. aparently quite antiquated)
KL i believe you mean Nicht War (was not)
Unglaublich (unbelieveable)
Schweineheund(e) (a curse used in reference to a person or group of persons - literally, i think, pig-dog(s))
Shnell! (quick/hurry!)
Verdammt (damn)
Was (usually spelled 'vas' in the comics... means 'what' )
Was ist das? (what is that?)
Danke (thank you)
ja (yes)
nein (no)

and i learned that just from reading X-Men :p so yeah these probably are kinda off. my point is it's not very hard to figure out if you just take a moment and figure out what the situation is and what makes sense.

and jogurt, thank you for the most enlightening explanation on the word 'ach' :D

P.S. What the hey do these mean?
P.P.S. Could Ach sound like the scottish exlamation? knida like "ach me laddie?"
Ayee! Look! Its a Boggie...and his frumious Bandersnitch!

*edit* found it. heres the important post

so, what did everyone think? i really liked it. Casey clearly understands Kurts character. while he certainly was not written in character, there was a damned good reason, and Casey clearly understands him nontheless. and no writer on the face of the planet would set up a situation like that wihtout plans of resolving it, especially if they full well knew theyd be leaving in 2 issues, so we WILL see a resolution to this odd behaviour, i am certain. and as mentioned, i am rather glad that since the SP took what he valued the most and that turned out to be Kurts belief in the Dream, it means that he placed htat above his belief in god and even if Casey does not have him leave the priesthood, this leaves Austen with a perfect way to make him more fun IF Kurt gats what was taken form him back. that is a mighty big if, but... well lets take a little lesson form Kurt and have a little faith
i must say, Stacy had me in stitches, i love her

anyway. for anyone wondering here is a translation of all the german bits courtesey of Peter Luzifer:

"Feuer" means "fire", it seems to be the mans stagename from when he was working in the circus

the title :
"Gläubiger, Heiler, Gefallener" = "believer, healer, (the) fallen"

Page 3 panel 5
"Tetuedeb netsiem ma rid saw sad. Supreme Pontiff" - backwards and in german.

"das was dir am meisten bedeutet" (when said forwards)
= that what means most to you

page 4
"was bitte ist ein Pontifex Maximus" - said by Feuer
= pardon, what is a Supreme Pontiff ?
(actually Feuer himself translates it the next panel)

"vas ?" (when will they learn - it is spelled Was ?) = "What ?"

"mein Gott" = my god

page 8
"Mir geth es gut, danke" (spelling error, its "geht" ) = "Im fine, thank you"

page 17
"Vielleicht schulde ich dir eine Erklärung" = "Perhaps I owe you an apology"

page 19
"Soll ich euch allein lassen ?" = "Should I leave you alone? "

"Nein, das ist nicht nötig" = "no, that is not neccessary "

"meinen Freunde" (grammar error its "meine Freunde") = "my friends"

page 22
"Ich schätze, du hast recht" = "I guess youre right"

page 23
"Feuer, alter Freund" = "Feuer, old friend"

"lebe wohl und wurde" the last word makes no sense at all. I think they either mean

"lebe wohl und werde" - "farewell and grow / develop"
or
"lebe wohl und Würde" - "farewell and dignity"

Both sound strange in german, though Id take the first one out of therse two.

------------------------------

ok so that was the post from Hostboard. but there is one panel Peter missed

page 22 panel 1

Feuer (to Iceman)- "Ja. Wir sind feuer und eis. Aber das feuer ist machtiger."

this is going my my very limited knowledge of the language and piecing things together from the context of the situation like i said above... so jogurt, feel free to correct me if i am wrong, but... "Yes. We are fire and ice. But the fire is mightier"
