Your favorite Kurt

As most of you know, there are TONS of different Kurts in the X-universe. Ultimate Kurt, Uncanny X-men Kurt, Oldskool Uncanny X-men Kurt, Excalibur Kurt, etc etc etc. So which one do you like best?

Personally, I really like Kurt in X-treme X-men when he shows up. They do a good job drawing him and his personality rocks (well, it does in all of them). I also like Ultimate Nightcrawler a lot, but I WISH THEY'D PUT HIM AS A PERMANENT TEAM MEMBER!!! ARGH!!!

Okay, I'm gonna sound like a dork here, but technically in Uncanny, Excalibur and Extreme it's all the same Kurt. There's only one Kurt in the mainstream, 616 Marvel continuity. He may be drawn differently and written differently from book to book and creator to creator but it's all the same Fuzzy Elf.

There's a lot of other Kurts in various other Marvel worlds, the main examples being Ultimate Kurt, Evolution Kurt and now Movieverse Kurt. There's also alternate Kurts from the Cross-Time Caper, AoA and Earth X, plus various What Ifs.

Of all that, my favorite is still good old 616 Kurt. He's the first incarnation and the best.

Personally, AoA Kurt makes my heart beat *just* that much faster. But eh, that's me.

Excalibur Kurt is about the only time he really showed any independent skill. So I'm going with that one.

Alright, in Excalibur #103, where Kurt is confronted by all those different versions of himself, on page 19, the big panel in the center, the Kurt on the far right...

Oh, too specific? Ah well, then I have to say my favorite Kurt is the swashbuckling Kurt, the one who remembers how to laugh even after assuming the leadership responsibilities of Excalibur.

I got to picky, huh? :p Well, I like the way he was handled during most of Excalibur, especially from Alan Davis' second run to the end of the book.

Hehehe....I was at my local video store a couple monthes ago and they had a box of x-men chocolate bars! The bars themselves didn't have Kurt on them, but the lid of the box they were in had a big picture of the AoA team, with Kurt!!! I was so excited I ripped the lid off when the guy wasn't looking and stuck it on my X-men shrine next to my bed...lol. I know, stealing is wrong kids, don't do it.

Ack! I completely forgot about Michael Darkholme (from "What If...?" issue 98). He paints, he does gymnastics, and he ... falls in love with Rogue?

But a very nice story, I thought, and some amazing art to go with it.

I just didn't care for the AoA version much. Normally I like Kurt with attitude, but AoA in general does nothing much for me.

I think Evo Kurt is cute, but I want to pat him on the head, give him a lollipop and buy him a clue.

of course is the mainstream one all the same...but when I would decide about i would take the "orginal Kurt" (Cockrum)
at first choice.
The early Excalibur Kurt was neat too (but excalibur is just coolies...

)

I love the original. Definately the original. I must abmit though that Evo Kurt is adorable and I also liked AoA Kurt. I also like the Ultimate Kurt but since I actually haven't read any Ultimate X-men...except what I have seen on line...I don't really know what he's like.

I can't help but love the original. And the AoA Kurt, too.

Evo Kurt is cute and snuggly and all, but he's a bit of a doofus. That, and I just can't get used to the whole notion of Kurt using the words "homie" and "lingo" - as in "Man, that homie's lingo is so whack!" (in reference to Timewarp-Tastic 70s Teen-Forge).

Although I guess that kind of falls under the objections I have to Kitty Pryde (genius, computer geek and swimsuit model... hopefully

) talking like a Valley Girl... when she's from Illinois.

But I digress...

Anyway... never having read Excalibur, I wouldn't know much about Buzzcut-Goatee Kurt (except the fact that he was Pirate-tastic! Arr! Don't try to steal his pot o' gold! Yarr!).

I think that the tough guy image is a good thing for kurt, but since i've never read an AoA book, im gunna have to stick with Ultimate kurt. Evo kurt is cool to, but i don't know anyteens that speak like him, or kitty for that matter. But all time fav is definitly Excalibur kurt!

I know Evo-Kurt has a lot of odd sayings and all (that 'homie-wack' bit being the oddest of them all), but let's stop a moment and think.
In Germany, he probably didn't lead a very social life. We haven't seen any evidence of him being in the circus (which they probably would have brought up by now, especially in the Mindbender episode). So he's a shut-in in Germany due to his appearance and lack of image inducer.
Enter Xavier, bringing him to America (a completely new country), and enrolling him in school the very next day. Now he has to learn how to socialize for the first time in a foreign country, and to fit in he has to figure out this pop culture.
It sounds... difficult, to say the least.

But for me, Evo Kurt is probably about third on my list of favorites (after Michael Darkholme and Excalibur's team leader). Depending on how Evolution, er, evolves, he could very well go a bit higher.

616 Kurt is the best...esp during early Excalibur days. Alan D., Dave C., and Salvadore L. are the best Kurt artists.

Ultimate Kurt is promising and AoA was pretty good. still 616 is the best.
