Apart from the name "Kurt Wagner"
What would you rather for Nighty's name?

Kurz ( German ) = short. o.< Looked up Kurt on some baby name thing and it said it was from Curtis, meaning Courteous. Hm. There's the gentleman part, so where's the swashbuckler?Originally posted by Nandireya

Other names I like would be Matthias and Mikael. But Kurt's just fine.

I read what the name meant in one of those baby name books too...it was Curt rather than Kurt though...but I can't see that there'd really be a difference in the meaning...

There can be difference in meaning depending on the variations, but not usually and not much, also I definitely like Kurt just fine.
Vala: "Hello."
Daniel: "What the hell are you doing here?"
Vala: "Isn't this my room?"
Daniel: "Noooo… your room is across the hall… with the… guard in front of it."
Vala: "Ah yes, they do all rather look alike don't they? Anyhow, Since I'm here, shall we make the best of it?"
Daniel: "No, we shalln't."

What about Angelo Wagner?
Frankly, I think they could have given him a proper Romany (gypsy) name. Preferably something unusual, like Wen or Inga or Mircea or something. There's something wrong with the German ethniticity, considering his background.

I kinda like Damien but it's too obvious considering his appearance. Angelo would be very ironic! (Angelo Wagner...) A Romany name would also be cool. I know someone called Wen. I see what you mean about there being something wrong with German ethniticity. If he was raised by gypsies then it would seem more likely they would give him a gypsy name. Still, I like Kurt!

Ford Wagner...nah! (Though Ford Prefect IS my favourite roving researcher for The Hitchhicker's Guide to the Galaxy!)

I like Kurt just fine. It's cute. And if he wasn't named Kurt, I bet the comic people would've named him something stupid, cause it'd have to be a German name. Like...Hans or something. LOL. Hans Wagner :

Hans and Franz Wagner -- here to pump *clap* you up!
Hmmm.... if we change his last name..... Kurt Summers: The Third Summers Brother! Noooooo!
Yeah, he needed a gypsy name since he was raised by them. Maybe when we get his real origin this winter they'll explain that. Maybe Mystique requested Margoli to give him that name. Maybe Wagner's Raven's real family name (since Raven Darkholme stinks of being an alias) , or really is the real name of Kurt's dad. Maybe Kurt's really Kurt Wagner Jr. or Kurt Wagner III. I wonder if he's ever tried to find other Wagners in Germany to try to find his family. Yeah, 'no' on that one, but I think I sure as hell would.

: ...yeah : There are tons of Wagners around I'm sure. BTW Errol Flynn played a guy, a guy of German decent who was a Mountie, with the surname Wagner in Northern Pursuit.
Meaning of "Kurt"
Hi all,
newbie on his second day.
Anyway, the German name "Kurt" is not related to the English (and ultimately French) name "Curtis". It is in fact a shortened/diminutive form of the name "Konrad/Conrad" (Old High German: "Chuonrad") that became a name in its own right.
"Konrad" means "bold counsel" or "bold in council" (Modern High German "kühn" (brave) + "Rat" (council, counsel)). The name Conrad used to be tremendously popular in the middle ages (there were four emperors of that name) and there are quite a few other diminutives and regional forms like "Kuno", "Kunz", "Konny", "Kord/Cord", "Keno". In German you still say "Hinz und Kunz" (diminutives of "Heinrich" (Henry) and "Konrad") meaning "everybody" (rather like the idiomatic expression "every Tom, Dick and Harry" in English).
