My fear with this is what he says about Kurt being "quite close to divine" and taking everything so well because of his faith. It sounds like he's reached complete inner peace and once a character has done that, his arc is basically over. There's no point in putting him through trials when you know they're not ever going to affect him deeply. And it would probably be even harder to relate to him because of it. As a result, he's more likely than ever to remain a background element.
There HAS to be a happy medium between "brooding" and "always zen".

I also loathe that priest disguise. LOATHE!

But maybe I should actually read the story first?

I really like that very high contrast black and white style that the Nightcrawler art is in, but I'll wait to see it colored before making a final judgement. I think my favorite is the page of Anole taking a really action packed cell phone call though.

As for the story, I'm going to wander out on a limb and say that it seems that too many writers jump on Nightcrawler's religious values as the only thing that drives him. It makes me think the writers aren't very religious themselves because people who are really religious and live balanced lives don't think and talk about God all day long. (Though this may be different for superheroes - having never been one, I don't know.)

Or, perhaps what they're saying is that Nightcrawler isn't balanced?

I haven't read it yet either, I'm just going off of the writer's comments. If he gets it right though, it will be awesome because the idea of:

Looking for god in places that god doesn't necessarily lend him/her/itself to being found.

is core to having a mature faith. It would be cool see Nightcrawler finally "grow up" and keep his faith crises internal at last.

I'm not unhappy about the subject matter, though I don't want to see it flogged to death, I agree. I mean, the overly pious have never held a lot of attraction for me. Being secure and happy in your faith, while still remaining open minded and constantly seeking wisdom does.

I can't say the art blew my socks off. I found it very blockish. Then again, as SK said, it depends on how its coloured. And everyone likes different styles.

All this means, is I'm gonna have to tell my guys at the comic store to pull more for me. LOL ><

I don't understand, then why did Bianchi design new spandex for him?

I see I am a "Bilge Rat". I need to get busy and post 47 more times so I can be a "Shoulder Parrot". Somehow, that just sounds more attractive.

He designed new costumes for all the main X-men. He did one for Colossus, too.

Looks like there was more to this than met the eye: the chef appears to be none other than Scalphunter.

This story was fa-bu-lous, although a lot of people have reacted to one thing in particular. Guess which one?

I think the reason Kurt changed his mind had something to do with the cross Scalphunter was wearing.

Reading the story I was somewhat disappointed.
Most people seem to like it though.
The whole priest/being overly religiuos thing always annoyed me. I miss old school nightcrawler :
And I'm only really into the character since a few months ago. But that's the version I fell in love with. I don't even like superhero comics I just like NC

The story came off to me as something that tried to be deep and meaningful but really wasn't. Found it kinda boting too.

Actually, Scalphunter only wore that in the end, remember? A sign that he changed the direction of his life. Personally, I think it seems more likely that Kurt was just messing with him, but we'll see.
What I liked most about the story was that it showed just how devious Kurt can be, his natural aptitude for acting and how good he is at reading and understanding people. You can totally tell he's Mystique's son here, and I mean that in the best of ways. The priest/Scalphunter segment was hilarious:

Kurt is currently appearing in Uncanny and will continue to do so, from what I've heard. He will also appear in the FCBD (Free Comic Book Day) issue that's due out soon, starring Pixie. Then he will get some focus in the upcoming Secret Invasion: Xmen tie-in that comes out in August, written by Mike Carey.
So there will be plenty of Kurt coming up.

The only thing that annoyed me was Nighty addressing Scalphunter with the formal "usted" instead of the much more commonly used and more appropriate "tu."

Exclusive uses of formal "you" words signals to me the use of a translation engine. What? Marvel couldn't ask a real Spanish speaker for a translation? New York doesn't have enough of them?

Wait wouldn't usted be the better choice considering tu is more of a familiar way, it'd be more considerate for Kurt to use the formal, since he's not really all that familar with Scalphunter.

And if they ran it through a translator, oh well, it was one line not the Iliad.

I only see usted or the abbreviation "Ud" used on signs. When speaking directly with someone these days, tu is used, even for God.
