What do your friends and family think of your x-men obsessio

Post by CrazyEyes08 »

Thankfully, my friends don't usually care, although they often have no idea what I'm talking about. I did find one person in school who is almost as obsessed as I am, so I can usually talk to him, but when there are really long breaks I start to go a little crazy...either that or my friends do, when I won't shut up about what happened in the latest comic I read.

My husband humours me...I may turn him yet. He does like the movies. My BIL is very obcessed - so he totally makes me look "normal".

My friends are all fine with it.

I have one friend who doesn't like x-men at all. She won't even go see the movie with me. All my other friends like the movies and I even get some to read some of the comics, which is cool even though they're usually laughing at them and still have no idea what's going on.

Oh pfft...just be yourself hun, life's to short for anything else...you like comics - good for you. You dress up in a costume every night and try and hunt criminals down - then you have a problem. Nothing with enjoying a hobby.

That's the neat thing in life - I have several circles of friends - my animal nut ones - my "mommy" ones - my old high school crew and of course all of the wonderful people here. Whenever I feel the need to meet a certain fix, I can find just the people to talk to about it.

My kids think that I am cool for liking it so much too - so it all works.

Well, my kids are at perfect intro-to-superhero age, so they think it's awesome that mommy enjoys superheroes as much as they do. They don't really care that they're more into Fantastic 4 and Teen Titans, and I'm more into X-Men.

My husband is a huge costuming enthuziast. And while I always shared his interest in Star Wars and science fiction in general, he kind of got me roped into costuming and fanfilm. For example:
http://www.hometown.aol.com/Barsoom71/quantum.html

At any rate, our involvement in all that makes my "obsession" with the X-Men look almost quiet and tame by comparison. I buy books when I can afford them, and sometimes even when I can't. I read the books. I write fic, and that's about it. :)
Meddle not with the heartstrings of fans, for we are powerful and hold your pursestrings.

There is no problem, I'm just saying that our likes and dislikes differ drasticaly. I doesn't bother me, it would just be nice if we shared the same love of x-men. :rolleyes

I dunno idsunki, I think he could have been a bit more creative.
But anyway. Yeah it can be annoying if your friends dislike somethings that you like. As for what my friends and family think of my X-Men obession, they're fine with it one of my friends even picks up old comics for me.

And now they don't. I assume it was taken care of, so there's really no point in trying to find out what it said. Likely just a troll, and if you ignore them, they go away. If you let them bug you, they won't.

Am I obsessed with the X-men? :shifty

I've been finding a lot of it unreadable lately. But, that's okay, cause I like the characters more than all the things that are always happening to them. And there will always be fanfiction (which is so many cases is so much better than what the officially hired writers produce).

I've been reading other (non-Marvel) books and graphic novels too, but I haven't had a look at Transmet yet. (I'm not so sure it's my kind of book.)

My family are a bit bemused by the whole thing really but get really annoyed when I start talking about it constantly. They seem to get also find it bizarre that I can easily go to my local comic book shop and spend £100 a pop on comics especially Wolverine comics. But what they are most worried about is my plans for an X-men tattoo I'm not decided between Wolverine, Gambit or Nightcrawler. It's a toughie.
