Well at least it's something new.
Newsarama spoke with Age of Apocalypse writer David Lapham about his role in the upcoming Marvel crossover X-Termination, and the other writers involved — Astonishing X-Men's Marjorie Liu and X-Treme X-Men's Greg Pak — have also gone on record about the story, which details the Age of Apocalypse's Nightcrawler's quest to flee the classic Marvel Universe and return to his home reality. Over at CBR, Liu discussed the central roles Wolverine and AoA Nightcrawler (recently seen in Uncanny X-Force) play in the story, saying, "These are two very passionate individuals who once they set their mind on something, that's it. That is it. The conflict between them, because their motives are very different — they're not bad guys individually — but their motives are so different that resolving this is going to require, I think especially on Nightcrawler's part, a real journey of self, self-exploration and conscience."

Liu also hinted that X-Termination will have major repercussions on Astonishing X-Men, "for one character in particular."

... Interesting...

Most interesting is this part:
promise that X-Treme X-Men would eventually circle back to the mainstream Marvel Universe,
Hmmmmm

Also there goes any chance of me sleeping
It shall my haunt my dreams. What is it you say? Well as Sage states:
"Just a supremely powerful, death dealing, Brood-possessed, acanti skywhale Xavier."

Can someone explain to me what the hell is going on in this issue? Do I need to read 7.1? 'Cause I've read #1, and then the "start" of the new arc, #5, and #'s 6-7. I still don't get a few panels. How did the ship get to his "parents" so fast?
How did Sage know where they were? Why wouldn't she have told Kurt this to save him from grief? If she didn't know, how did she not know?
Who the hell is that Xavier is chilling out with at the end of that issue? Is that what's in 7.1? I'm really frustrated with this title, the panels are sort of all over the place, reminds me a lot of the messy start to Uncanny X-Force.

Ugh...yeah. Suddenly, they were able to determine their planned location somehow, so they could follow Kidcrawler. If there was an adequate explanation, I didn't catch it (I thought Xavier head was the one to shift them around and determine where they landed). Sage is apparently the head of defense or whatever Abby Brand's normal role is in Kid's world, so...a combination of her computer brain and surveillance? Again, not sure. Maybe their equipment just registered him as a biologic life form showing up, as the rest of the world was comprised of robots that apparently his parents were responsible for creating? Or was it him? Hard to tell. If it was based on biologic life form, yeah, she would have known his parents were dead and probably how they died. I guess she didn't tell him so Pak could have a "shocker" at the end.
Xavier head apparently landed himself somewhere else, where they were suppose to be, and he rounded up that world's X-Men or X-Force or whatever. As far as them making it back to where he is eventually...no clue. In 7.1, they briefly end up in 616, hang out with Cyclops and have Dazzler say it isn't a world she cares about and tick the dead Xavier there off as another one on her list. So much for Charles. They also briefly talk to space whale Xavier and finish him, at his request.

Yeah, .... I'm not sure I get what Pak is doing here.

It seems like a mish-mash of events that are supposed to kill time when leading up to something else. You think all of this is relevant to X-Termination?

I think what the whale Xavier said is the only relevant thing to X-Termination. As far as what happened on Kid's world, Pak said in an interview that he wanted Kid and Darkholme to talk, so I think that's why he put that in there -- so they'd have something in common, I suppose. I'm sorry, just feels forced to me.

I can't help but agree. Might not be Pak's fault though. This could be the editors. They do that sometimes. He might've wanted to take it a different direction before that, for all we know.

Regardless, the story isn't bad it's just got its holes. I'll expect better as it goes on but I'm certainly not putting it in my pull. Please keep me (us?) updated as to KidCrawler's activities so I may know when to check back in. ;)

So there was an interesting part of XXM #8 which came out today. Kid Nightcrawler has a moment where a black version of Cyclops shoots his optic blasts at him. Instead of just BAMFing out of the way, he takes the blast with him!! He teleports behind black cyclops and hits him with a dose of his own medicine!

This is just one cool part of this issue (another part is Howlett meeting his boyfriend Hercules) but I figured this was a perfect point to bring up on this forum. Can he do this? Because the way it is drawn, I have to say no. As it was a fairly direct shot, if he were teleport before being hit (and this is assuming he is capable of teleporting pure energy), the blast would maintain it's velocity with respect to Kurt, still hitting him. How could he reverse the direction of the shot? This is a great topic, since we have dissected his abilities and physiology at length. I've never seen it before. Has it occured elsewhere?

In my opinion, no, this doesn't seem consistent with Nightcrawler (any version's) powers. It's been stated that he can change direction from vertical to horizontal in a port, for example making him fall "sideways" to keep from splattering. He can also port upwards and apparently either coast on the wind or gradually change his inertia to slow a fall (shown in one really old X-Men issue). He's teleported once on a moving plane, and into moving cars, so he is apparently fluid enough in transit to catch up with a moving destination point. BUT I don't think he has any ability to change the direction of a passenger and I think the teleport itself is too instantaneous for him to rearrange the layout, provided it's an area of effect. As far as teleporting energy, that seems a stretch, as well. I'd almost guess the default is just himself, or expanding to a very small area of effect, since he's had unanticipated hitch hikers before, but he also has never been shown to bring water with him, when teleporting out of water, or fire, in the same circumstance. It seems to be solid matter that can hitch? Darkholme has enough control to determine taking partial matter or doing teleportational surgery for lack of a better way to put it.

Anyway, yeah, I'd say it doesn't go with what's known about character abilities.

Does Kid-Crawler's teleporting abilities work differently, then?

I mean... I'm fairly certain Pixie or Spot has done that before.

Yeah, solid matter is proven to be carried in the surrounding area, but things like inertia and momentum are maintained. The only explaination I can come up with is that Kid Nightcrawler's teleportation is much more powerful than Kurt Wagner's. He has been proven to teleport many people at his young age and has alot of control considering what little practice he has.

So, the X-Termination arc in March/ April spans over Astonishing X-Men, X-Treme X-Men, and Age of Apacolypse. Naturally, I am following the whole thing since both Nightcrawler dopplegangers will be in it. AoA Kurt will be a focal point, I hear. I am very excited. Now, to this weeks comic.

SPOILERS

So, in issue 8, we defeat another evil Xavier, who calls himself King Witch of Gha-No-Sha (sp?) but there is alot of cool stuff about this one. 616 Dazzler shows off for other-worrld Dazzler, who then responds by transfiguring like Jesus on the Mount and poofing. Just disappearing into thin air. Also, King Witch Xavier eats "Crawlers", which are a Kurt-like race with 4 fingers and no tail. We see Herc and Logan get kinda cute together and 616 Dazzler inherits the other Dazzler's costume and rocks it. Furthermore, Kurt had a growth spurt or something, cuz he doesn't look like a little kid anymore. It looks as though black Cyclops and Hercules are joining the team, which I approve of. Biggest thing though: Last panel of the book we have a close-up of the Xavier head and one of his eyes is the same as the recently killed King Witch. Holy crap! What does that mean for our heroes and their mission? $#!+ just got real.

I read this issue. It was great. I am finally really into this series. Added it to my pull list in place of UXF.

So wow... this is huge. Both Nightcrawlers meeting an end. Or at least at face value. This is why I am following the whole X=Termination arc. I have to know!

On a similar note, I miss Kurt Wagner... so much...

Skipped around on some issues. Mostly just reading Kurt-centric ones.

He's great. If they are looking to replace Wagner's Nightcrawler this might be the character to do it. As much as I got a kick out of Darkholme, this kid is much more tightly written. Far more developed and much closer to what we know/love about Wagner.

Funny, I felt like Pak didn't develop him at all barring two weak issues and basically gave him Amadeus Cho's personality. This guy is just "Mizz Blaire's" sidekick.

I disagree entirely, the development with the issue where they got trapped in his robotic overworld was a lot. He's come a long way in a short time.
