It's for reasons like these that I'm seriously rethinking my ambition to write for Marvel. I'm beginning to regard that company like a badly trashed hotel room I'd find toward the end of my shift back when I did hotel housekeeping. The only difference is with the latter, I still could clean up that mess in a half hour or less.

I dunno Ange, it's slowly becoming less messy. I think I get where they're going with this now. And Brian Michael Bendis' new "Avengers #1" for the Heroic Age is fabulous so far. And that's weird that I'm saying that being I'm not a big Avengers fan. I think this story is going to pan out well into the Heroic Age.

As far as I'm concerned, there's no Heroic Age for the X-Men without Nightcrawler. What heroes are there left in the X-Men who are anywhere near as good?

Very few, but I think you'll be surprised.
I for one am a huge fan of Daredevil and Spider-Woman, and I'm putting all my faith in Iceman now, being Nightcrawler is now offed.
And he is remaining brave and true throughout this story plot.

Go write your own comic, Ange. Distribute through Darkhorse or make a graphic novel, or heck, do a webcomic. I'd read it, I'd encourage all my friends to read it, and you could start making merchandise or something.
Nobody needs to "wait" for the big companies anymore -- just find your web audience niche. And if you'd need an artist, I'm sure there's somebody out there who'd be willing.
That's why the internet is so cool.
Y'know, we've got a lot of talented and creative people right here. We should re-write Second Coming OUR way. See if anybody follows it.

I am writing professionally actually, but it had been my main long-term goal to write X-books, and to write them with Nightcrawler. Along the way, I've discovered a number of things I like while working in comics that I find a bit lacking at Marvel- such as editors who care about continuity, the characters, and polished work, and who aren't afraid to actually, you know, edit.
Without Nightcrawler and without editors actually doing their jobs, my interest in writing for Marvel has gone the way of my interest in reading Marvel. It's taken a significant hit. Thankfully, it hasn't done too much damage to my interest in writing indies, but then, I'm contracted for a couple of projects, and I've lined up some long-term work with another that has taken on personal importance to me.
Still, Nightcrawler was kind of my muse. I don't have Nighty sketches and action figures on my writing desk for decoration.

I really can't imagine Marvel hiring anyone who is obsessed with a character and has an extremely rigid view of what should be done with him...

One of my goals is to be a writer for Marvel too, Ange, however I plan on writing spidey.
Hopefully! It's a long path there. I think I'd rather undo terrible arcs like "BND" and show Marvel how unnecessary Mephistopheles was to the plot. But I'm sure it'll be retonned by then.
I wonder if this plot, being it headrolls right into San Francisco escape for August, will be part of what pulls Peter away from that crappy Arc.

Of course. It may take nothing less than that to revive my interest. Daredevil, Iceman, Spider-woman, sorry. I just can't relate as well to any of them as I did with Nightcrawler.Wahnsinn wrote:I meant the cosmic defib.
Did anyone who read Legacy (or read the spoilers as I did) find something somewhat amusing in a twisted way about what Bastion said?
How long will it be before Bastion (possible spoiler)
...has a change of heart about killing off all mutants, bows before Cyclops and declares, "You tax me. You ennoble me. You complete me."
Then (I wish), his Nightcrawler arm slaps them both silly.

What did Bastion say? Do you mean this?
At Bastion’s base he is congratulated on the death of mutantkind. Bastion tells his human council to stand down their forces, they won’t be needed again. The end game has started.
I think you're misreading what he said Ange.
WHen I read it (and i have the issue, i'll quote/scan it later for those who want to see it) I got the impression that he was implying more "Cleansing" needed to occur.

I don't remember what they called them, but that's a series of cyber bots (like sentinels) all based after Bastion's physique/appearance.
