6/2 Instance: Vital Mistakes

Paige: Paige smiled as she colored today. She had been much happier since Eve had woken up the night before. She had been up with him a few times since then as well. It was a wonderful feeling knowing that he was going to be just fine, even if he was in a lot of pain when he was awake.

Summers: Scott poked his head in, oh, good. Eve was asleep. Apparently he'd woken up at some point during the night. "Paige? Can I talk to you out here?"

Paige: "Sure thing!" Paige set her crayon aside and stood up. She tucked Eve in a bit and kissed his forehead before going out to Scott.

Summers: Scott closed the door and pulled her down the hall a bit. He stared at her for a minute, before waving a long sheet of paper in her face. "Do you know what this is?"

Summers: "This is the record of when he woke up. Why the hell didn't you come get any of us? I mean, Christ, Paige. You're not a doctor, and I want to know your side of it before I go tell Hank and Annie."

Paige: Paige's eyes watered. "He wasn't awake very long... And he would have only hurt himself if I had left. He unhooked all the machines as it was..."

Summers: "He what? Did you re-hook him up?" At her nod, he went on, "Paige, I know he's your boyfriend, and the power of love is strong and all, but damnit, you can't do that. What did you do? Did you give him water? How much?"

Paige: "Just a little bit. His voice sounded horrible."

Summers: "Christ." He ran a hand through his hair, and bit back a yawn. "Everything that goes in and out of patients that sick is vital to record. Too much of even water could be bad. The next time, measure it out. Did he say anything? Has he woken up since? Did he say anything those times? Why didn't you come get anyone?"

Paige: "His chest hurts him. And all the monitors hurt his arm. I didn't think giving him a drink would hurt him... he only had a little bit. I'll measure it next time..."

Paige: "He wasn't awake long enough any of the times he woke up! By the time I would get help, he would have been back to sleep. Was going to tell you when you came in to check on him."

Summers: "Still. You should have alerted us." He glared at her, then paused, taking time to actually look at her. Well...I suppose she is pretty enough.

Paige: Paige's bottom lip quivered a bit. "I know... I just wanted to make him comfortable..."

Summers: Scott sighed. "Fine. Next time, let us know immediately." He folded up the sheet and put it back in the folder he held. "All right?"

Paige: Paige nodded. "Yes sir."

Summers: Giving her a sly grin, he chucked her under the chin saying, "now there's something I don't hear often." He ignored the sickly flip-flop his stomach made.

Paige: Paige giggled at him. "Well cap'n, I'll do my best sir!" Paige gave him a salute and a hug.

Summers: "I'm still going to tell Hank and Annie," he warned, stepping back.

Paige: "But then they will be mad at me too!" Paige's eyes watered again.

Summers: Scott shrugged. "That's to be expected."

Paige: "...are you going to kick me off the team?"

Summers: "Not this time, Paige."

Paige: Paige was relieved. "Thank you, Scottums!"

Summers: "Anytime." He replied, looking at a chart in the folder, making notes.

Paige: "...so um..." Paige shifted a bit.

Summers: "What?" Scott looked up briefly.

Paige: "Well... Kitty said Angel was crying in her room with Sharon... is she ok?"

Summers: "I'm sure she's fine." He snapped the folder shut.

Paige: Paige jumped a bit at that. "...did something happen?"

Summers: "We had...a disagreement," he said more levelly.

Paige: Paige frowned. "I'm sorry, Scott. If you ever need to talk, I have tons of time!!"

Summers: Scott stared at her. The last person I'd talk to about it... "No, thank you. But that's very...sweet...of you to offer."

Paige: Paige smiled at him. "You know where to find me if you change your mind!"

Summers: Scott frowned a bit. "Actually, perhaps it would be a good thing. Let's go get coffee after we check on Shiro and Eve."

Paige: "Alright!" Paige beamed at him. "Coffee sounds great!"

Summers: "Good."

Summers: ((time passes))

Summers: Scott sipped at his mug of coffee staring out over the garden. He stayed silent, wondering how best to put it.

Paige: Paige looked at the flowers in the garden as they enjoyed their coffee.

Summers: "It's like this: we had a fight and we both made some nasty accusations." Though her crack about tennis was really un-called for.

Paige: Paige looked up at him. "I'm so sorry Scott..." She frowned, feeling horrible for him.

Summers: "It's all right. It was a long time coming." He glanced at her. "Can you imagine she accused me of..." He trailed off, and looked away.

Paige: Paige put her hand gently on his arm. "Of what?"

Summers: He looked down at her hand. "That I was conducting myself inappropriately with you behind her and Eve's back. That while going for our rides, we were..." He trailed off again, and shrugged her hand off. "It's stupid, isn't it?" Though a mean part of him hoped she was seeing them chat together from somewhere.

Paige: "But you've never done anything bad... oh my gosh! It's all my fault isn't it! I give you lots of hugs!" Paige felt absolutely terrible.

Summers: He had to laugh at that. "You give everyone hugs. It's definitely not that."

Paige: Paige let out a sigh of relief. "Are you sure?"

Summers: "Definitely." He gave her a lop-sided grin. "You even give her hugs, so, there's nothing to complain about."

Paige: Paige giggled at him. "Yeah! True!"

Summers: "Though, I guess she does have a point." He looked at her again and sipped his coffee.

Paige: "Hmm?" Paige took another sip of her coffee.

Summers: "Well, you are rather pretty. I'm sure Angel feels that you give her a run for her money."

Paige: "Awwwwwww you think I'm pretty!?"

Paige: Paige kissed his cheek. "Well you know, you are handsome too!"

Summers: "Thanks." Scott smiled, and gave her a quick hug.

Paige: Paige snuggled into Scott a bit as she hugged him.
