3/5 Instance: Descent

Timelined a day or two after Carol's visit to the Shaw house

<Monet> Monet tapped the papers into the file and pushed away from her desk with a sigh. On her way out the door, she handed the folder to one of her many peons with instructions on who to deliver it to, then continued down the hallway to see how things were going in the main portion of the club. And her first stop was, of course, the bartender.

<Shaw> The bartender was otherwise occupied, speaking to his former employer. Sebastian was pleased that the man still knew enough to place his favored scotch directly in front of his accustomed barstool. And, after a nod, he extended the same to Shinobi, who, for the first time, was officially introduced as his son.

<Shinobi> For his part, although he'd been here before, it was an uncomfortable situation. The scotch was more than welcome.

<Monet> Monet frowned at having to wait for her martini until she saw who she was being slighted for. Then her frown deepened. "Now. Or you're fired."

<Shaw> "You're not fired," he amended, twisting slightly to give Monet a greeting smirk. Sebastian took a sip of his scotch. "Bonsoir, mon amie." After a thorough assessment, he stood and took her hand.

<Monet> Monet smirked back and let him take her hand while the bartender scurried off to make her drink. "Undermining me in my club, amant? Tsk."

<Shaw> He kissed her hand and let the possessive pride slide. "Oh, you know me." Turning to Shinobi, he was pleased to see the boy was already on his feet. "Monet, allow me to formally introduce my son, Shinobi Shaw." He gave Monet's hand a warning squeeze before releasing her. "Shinobi, this is Monet St. Croix, a dear friend and my black queen."

<Shinobi> Shinobi extended his hand. "It's good to meet you." He couldn't help but give her a look. So this was Monet. Once upon a time, he'd read her file, and since then he'd heard... enough.

<Monet> Monet arched a knowing eyebrow at Sebastian before allowing Shinobi to take it. "Enchante." She gave him a good once over and barely let her eyebrows do her version of an unimpressed shrug. "What brings you here tonight?"

<Shinobi> Shinobi's eyebrow twitched up as well, and decided to leave the hand kissing to his father. Releasing hers, he instead moved to pull out one of the tall bar chairs for her.

<Shaw> "Oh, I do like to check in... from time to time." He bared teeth at Monet. "You understand."

<Monet> Monet tilted her head in slight gratitude at Shinobi and grinned at Sebastian, "I would be most disappointed if you didn't." Her attention turned back to Shinobi as her drink was placed in front of her. "Et vous? What brought you along with your... father?"

<Shinobi> "I wanted to become more familiar with the Hellfire Club... and its members." He went back to his seat once she was settled, giving her a slight smile.

<Monet> "Oui? What about its queen?" She smirked at him as she brought her glass to her lips for a small sip. "Sebastian, he does so have your smile." And so many other things. It was rather unsettling.

<Shaw> "He does indeed," he admitted with a chuckle, taking a drink as well. It no longer bothered him as it once did, which he supposed was telling.

<Shinobi> "Of course it's an honor to meet its queen." Shinobi nodded at her, the smile twisting into a smirk.

<Monet> "Mmm. He's much more pleasant than you are, Sebastian. He knows just what to say, whereas you like to prey on my nerves and push my buttons." But he was just as slick as Sebastian. If she didn't find some sort of difference besides the nationality, she might hit something.

<Shaw> "Well, amant, that's simply the advantage of our long association, yes?" He grinned at her over the edge of his glass. "However, if you'll excuse me, I do need to retrieve something from my office - I trust you haven't had it cleaned out just yet, yes?"

<Monet> Monet tilted her head at him, "Now, Sebastian, do you really think I would want all of your things gone that quickly, do you?" She smirked and nodded, "Your things have been boxed and were awaiting your return for them."

<Shaw> He barked a laugh. "I can always trust your ruthless efficiency," he said, standing and taking his drink with him. Sebastian took a moment to grip Shinobi's shoulder and give it a brief squeeze before he left down the side hall.

<Monet> Monet grinned and watched him go. "Alright. Is that the real reason your here? Or is it to worm your way under some unsuspecting woman's skirt?"

<Shinobi> "Well," he hedged, watching Sebastian's exit and taking a slow sip of scotch. "Under other circumstances I would certainly attempt that, it would be awkward for several reasons..."

<Monet> "Believe me, I understand that better than you realize." She took a slightly larger drink from her glass then plucked the olive out to pop into her mouth. "So, Shinobi, tell me more about who you are."

<Shinobi> "Still working on figuring that out, I suppose," he said, flashing her a quick smile and looking down at his glass. "I suspect you know exactly who I was."

<Monet> Monet hid her smirk by putting the second olive in her mouth. Of course she knew. A test-tube baby. "Oui. But only hearsay. Why don't you tell me who you're becoming, then?"

<Shinobi> "A Shaw, or so I'm told." He looked back up at her, smirking. "So, with that comes learning the ins and outs of the Hellfire Club, this time from the inside." Well, without demolishing it, anyway, he thought, shifting a little closer to her. "So, you're the queen here, why don't you tell me what's so special about this place?"

<Monet> Monet arched one eyebrow, trying to hide her amusement and wondering who on earth said that to him. More than likely, it was Sebastian, the ego-maniac. "Mais oui, I am." She reached out and put her hand delicately on his wrist, "Shinobi, darling. You just said it, yourself. I'm the queen. That would make me what's so special about this place."

<Shinobi> "Of course," he chuckled, although the hand on his wrist gave him a moment of pause. "So," he started again, taking a sip of scotch and putting on a smile, "while you are obviously special, you can't be the only member." The crowd was fairly sparse tonight, but he gestured at the floor with his drink anyway. "A queen must rule, right? So, tell me about your subjects."

<Monet> "All quite dull, I assure you." She leaned back in her seat, however and looked around. "There are the usual suspects: the gossipers, the brown-nosers, the blackmailers, et cetera. But then there are the loyal ones and the underlings who come in quite handy." Monet scanned the room and looked across at a woman who was succeeding in making a younger man faun after her, "That's Mrs. Dubois. Harmless to the hierarchy, but quite lethal in the bedroom."

<Shinobi> Shinobi gave the woman a thorough assessment, and a raised brow at the idiot who was all over her. "Well, I believe I'll pass..." he laughed, taking another drink.

<Monet> She tilted her head at him, narrowing her eyes as she assessed him. "What, or who, is it that you really want to know about? It can't be the everyday goings on of the club. Unless you plan to figure things out and try to steal it all from me from the inside."

<Shinobi> He paused mid-drink and tilted his head, studying her. "Why would I want to do that?"

<Monet> "Because that's what Sebastian would do in your position."

<Shinobi> "You're lucky I'm not Sebastian then," he smirked, giving her a slight salute with his glass.

<Monet> Monet was not amused by that comment. At all. But she pretended to be all the same. "Oui. Don't turn out to be too much like him or we may end up closer than you want to be."

<Shinobi> "Is that so?" Well, that was interesting, but hardly surprising. She was gorgeous, and he knew his father's reputation.

<Monet> "Oui. And I don't always play nicely." Especially when irritated. Sebastian might get a good throttling for this one.

<Shinobi> "I would imagine not," he said carefully. "You don't get to be queen by playing nice."

<Monet> Monet grinned, "That is very true." And if he did try to do what Sebastian would do in his position, he would know first hand. "Let me get you another drink and I'll give you a V.I.P. Tour?"

<Shinobi> "Thank you, I'd be honored." He gave her a winning grin, wondering if she was plotting to murder him in a back room. Or a dungeon.

<Monet> Monet motioned for the bartender to bring them both another drink and she moved to stand, "Well, obviously, this is the main area and grand hall, as you know. Has your father shown you anything besides this? Wouldn't want to bore you, after all."

<Shinobi> "No, our visits so far have been fairly brief." He suspected because Sebastian was feeling him out to see how he'd react. Getting to his feet, he helped Monet with her chair and offered his arm.

<Monet> Monet took his arm gratefully as the bartender came around with their drinks, "Merci." She gestured towards the back hallway, "Shall we, then? I may even show you my private quarters."

<Shinobi> "I'm certain that's something worth seeing." Smirking, he accepted his drink with a thank you and started down the hall. After all, this was what he was here for, right?

<Monet> Monet grinned as they walked down the hallway, "These doors lead to a few boring offices. Security room and the like. But down the hall and around the corner is where the fun truly begins. You're not squeamish, are you?"

<Shinobi> "...no." Well, he hadn't been, once upon a time. Perhaps he was about to see those dungeons they'd joked about. Sebastian had to be nearby. "Where is Sebastian's office?"

<Monet> "Don't tell me you're wanting to run scared to daddy, now?" She grinned and gestured to the door at the very end of the hall. "There."

<Shinobi> "Not at all," he said, giving her a sidelong glance and a smirk. He was, however, noting the location.

<Monet> Monet sipped her martini as they rounded the corner and went through some plush black curtains. "And back here is where the fun really is. What is your favorite way to pass the time? Pool? Bowling? Being dominated in a sex dungeon?"

<Shinobi> Shinobi was lucky he hadn't been taking a drink. "I've played pool," he said, unsure what else to say, and wasn't certain where to look.

<Monet> Monet smirked at his lack of response about the sex dungeon. "We also have an indoor pool and sauna."

<Shinobi> "Is that attached to the sex dungeon?" Shinobi leaned slightly to look into a room as they walked. While he regretted it, he couldn't say he wasn't fascinated. "Because that hardly seems sanitary," he added with a smirk.

<Monet> "Actually..." Monet arched an eyebrow at him, "A lot of partners use that area during the comforting portion after their scene. So oui, it is."

<Shinobi> "Well, how... useful." He paused to give the woman another slow, assessing look. So this was what Sebastian was up to before he started vying for father of the year. It was interesting. "I'm sure you've made good use of it."

<Monet> "Oh non. I don't bother with all of that. If you're going in there with me, I'm not going to comfort you afterward. I'm not a traditional dom. I do it for punishment. Not pleasure." She punched in a number into a keypad on a double door they stopped at. "And here, is our shooting and archery range."

<Shinobi> "I thought that both was the entire point of that... scene." Shooting range. Shinobi took a swallow of scotch. "My, it certainly is well appointed. So much more so than I'd initially thought."

<Monet> Monet arched an eyebrow at him, "Which is why I'm not really involved in the scene. I just do it for my own gain." She laughed, "Did you really take things at just face value?"

<Shinobi> "What would you gain from that, exactly?" The door opened and he looked inside. It wasn't just a range, since there were weapons lined up on racks. He took a shaky breath and escorted her inside.

<Monet> "Plenty. Cross me and you'll find out." She gestured at the racks of various sorts of weapons, "I assume your father has taught you how to use some of these?"

<Shinobi> "Oh, now why would I do that?" He mustered up a grin for her, although it slipped just a bit. "No, not my father," he said flatly.

<Monet> "Why, indeed," she made sure he caught her narrowed eyes slightly, warning him to try something. "Non, I would assume not Sebastian anyway. But did you not have a father figure before?"

<Shinobi> Shinobi swallowed, forcing himself to turn and meet her eye. "Nathaniel Essex, as I'm sure you're already aware."

<Monet> "Mais oui. Which is why I assume you already know how to use the majority of the items in this room. And I also assume you would know how to use the devices in the torture chamber as well."

<Shinobi> The memories returned, the panic severed by a quick, cold detachment. His expression blanked, then he sneered. "Mais oui," he repeated, stepping in close to loom over her. "So I have to wonder what game you're playing here, my queen."

<Monet> Monet met his gaze with her own cold one, unmoved by his height and letting it show, "The game is simple. If you're in my club, you play by my rules. Not his. Or else."

<Shinobi> "What if I choose to make my own rules?" His mouth twisted into a smirk, one eyebrow raised.

<Monet> "Then you'll find yourself on the other end of those devices I just mentioned. My. Rules."

<Shinobi> He sucked in a breath between his teeth, pretending to shudder, and took a drink. "My, I never expected to make you so nervous you feel you need to resort to such... ugly threats."

<Monet> "Let me make this clear, Shinobi. I do not trust you. I know where you've come from and I know who you're becoming." She stepped in closer to him so their chests were almost touching, "I never get nervous, darling. I get angry. I get possessive. I get down-right evil. But never nervous."

<Shinobi> He smirked down at her with a cold laugh. "You get talkative."

<Monet> "The only time I stop talking is during sex," she arched an eyebrow at him.

<Shinobi> Shinobi took a slow sip of the scotch and a surveying stare. "Good to know."

<Monet> "Any other observations, darling?"

<Shinobi> He grinned. "You're right not to trust me." Taking a step back, he held her eyes and inclined his head in a slight bow. "Thank you for the tour. I think I can see my own way out. Sebastian must be nearly done."

<Monet> "You'll forgive me if I don't let you walk through here without me, yes?" She held the door open for him, keeping an eye on him the whole time. "If he isn't, I can hurry him along."

<Shinobi> "I'm hardly the most dangerous guest here, so I have to tell you, this is damn flattering." He took his time leaving the room, surveying the weapons first, then turned on his heel outside the door.

<Monet> "Maybe so, but you're currently the only one that I don't have under my thumb."

<Shinobi> "That's very true. It was a pleasure to meet you, Monet St. Croix." Shinobi gave her a wry wink and phased, vanishing into the wall. It was time to find his father.

<Monet> Monet's eyes narrowed as he disappeared, "You can't hide from me, Shinobi. Remember that."
