7/2 Instance: My Robot

Timelined after Finding Another

<Shaw> Sprawled in his favorite chair, Sebastian had long ago given up the desk for the wireless touch-screen keypad. While building was labor intensive, programming was all trial and error... which was best done in a more relaxed fashion lest you get the urge to start throwing things.

<Jessica> Jess had long since given up getting any work done, she hadn't managed to successfully negotiate her math problem and was going to have to pay a visit to the boathouse for hints. Dropping her pen down on top of her notebook, she stretched and looked at the clock. Hmm... it was kind of late. Picking up her spider, she wandered out of the dining room to look for Sebastian.

<Shaw> He'd gotten in the habit of leaving the door to his work room slightly ajar since Jessica was generally quiet. Tonight was no exception. Sebastian reached for his coffee to take a drink, then realized the mug was empty. He then realized the time. Hmm. Just a bit longer.

<Jessica> Rubbing her eyes with her free hand and fidgeting to get the stiff feeling out of her shoulders, she crossed the apartment and headed for Sebastian's work room as she assumed he was probably lurking in there somewhere. She stifled a yawn and stretched again, running a hand through her hair before she pushed the door open a little further.

<Jessica> She paused in the doorway and cocked her head on one side at what she saw on the desk. Was that.... a head? This whole severed head thing had gone too far. She was going to see if she could get him a plush lettuce for Christmas because asking him to dress up as one for Halloween would probably not go down well...

<Shaw> Hearing a sound at the door, he looked up and smoothly clicked save and minimized his screen. "Good evening, koibito," he said, stifling a yawn and setting the pad aside. Standing up, he stretched, arms overhead and fingertips brushing the ceiling. He paused when he noticed what she was looking at.

<Jessica> Jess gave a start of surprise and tore her gaze from it, "Hi!" She grinned, waving one of the spider legs at him. "Why is there a giant head on your desk? Are you secretly enjoying all this Halloween prep?" She eyed him suspiciously.

<Shaw> "Perhaps." He tilted his head and moved toward her, completely unhurried. Brow raised at the spider wave, he took its leg and gave it the equivalent of a kiss on the hand.

<Jessica> She giggled, sliding her free hand around his side to draw him closer for a hug, "He says thanks but he's not into that."

<Shaw> "I'll try to suppress my disappointment," he deadpanned, gaze sweeping over her face. Sebastian pulled her in and held the hug, bending to press a kiss just under her ear.

<Jessica> She giggled again, turning her face into his neck and breathing him in. "It's really late... I sort of lost track of time... I'm turning into you..."

<Shaw> "There are both better and worse fates in this world, I suppose," he mumbled against her skin. Opening his eyes, he glanced over at his bench and its occupant.

<Jessica> Jess eyed it again, peeking over his shoulder, "I feel like it's judging me..."

<Shaw> "It may be," he whispered into her ear, voice seductive. "Artificial intelligence, after all."

<Jessica> "Creeeeepy.... can we go somewhere else?" She hid her face against his neck again.

<Shaw> Sebastian laughed. "It's not active right now anyway, love." He tightened his arms around her. "I've been working on the programming tonight."

<Jessica> "So it's currently a soulless head? That somehow makes it worse...." She nuzzled his neck, wrapping both her arms around him and likely tickling the back of his neck with her plush spider.

<Shaw> He sucked in a breath and tipped his head back to let her explore. The spider just amused him. "I'm giving it a soul."

<Jessica> She couldn't help herself, "You're going to be a daddy!" She grinned against his neck.

<Shaw> He barked a loud, surprised laugh and looked down at her, shaking his head.

<Jessica> She giggled again, "I know, I'm very bad."

<Shaw> Turning it about, he dipped his head sideways to nip at her neck. "Oh, perhaps someday."

<Jessica> Her eyebrows went up and she tensed noticeably, "Let's not get ahead of ourselves..."

<Shaw> Smiling against her skin, he pressed another kiss there and let her go to put up his equipment for the night.

<Jessica> Feeling like she needed to calm down a bit, she retreated back into the main part of the apartment and headed for the kitchen.

<Shaw> Only a little surprised that she'd turned tail and fled, he sighed and decided to finish up. The robot was well under way, and he expected to be able to deliver to his client right on schedule - despite his recent backset after Madelyne's death.

<Jessica> Jess set about making tea and trying to figure out what to do about dinner. It really was very late, a bit too late to start cooking now.

<Shaw> Casting a glance at the door, he had a passing thought - should he have let her see his work?

<Jessica> She listened to the sounds of his movements as she finished up making her tea and leaned against the counter. Maybe they could order in...? She didn't really feel like dressing up to go out anywhere.

<Shaw> Ah well, it was done now. He shook it off and wandered out of the room, listening to the click of the locking mechanism behind him. Of course, he found her in the kitchen with her tea. Stopping at the island, he rubbed the palm of his hand across the smooth marble.

<Jessica> She gave him a small smile over the rim of her cup, "What do you want to do about dinner?"

<Shaw> Sliding down the counter, he opened a drawer and pulled out his menu collection, one eyebrow up.

<Jessica> She nodded, "I was thinking the same thing." She took a sip of her tea.

<Shaw> "Well, then, as great minds think alike, what would you like?" He shuffled through the menus as he strolled around the edge of the island to her.

<Jessica> She shook her head, "I don't know... pizza?" She cocked her head on one side, setting her tea down beside her spider.

<Shaw> "Pizza it is then," he agreed, picking out a couple of menus and putting down the rest. After a beat, he picked up the spider and set it on top of the pile to guard, flashing her a playful half smile.

<Jessica> She giggled, sliding her arms around him and eying the menus before nuzzling his shoulder.

<Shaw> "Perhaps you can meet my son when he's a bit more functional," he said, putting an arm around her shoulder.

<Jessica> Jess wrinkled her nose, "Maybe..." she wasn't sure about that.

<Shaw> Sebastian laughed softly and kissed her cheek. "Well then, pizza and an evening of no cybernetic children."

<Jessica> "Sounds lovely." She cuddled him, "Pizza and a movie?"

<Shaw> "Pizza and a movie," he agreed and pretended to think for a moment. "'I Robot,' I think."

<Jessica> "Noooooooo!" She zapped him, "No robots!"

<Shaw> "Oh!" He managed to make his surprise sound pornographic and gave her a roguish grin. "Perhaps a bit more of that after the movie..."

<Jessica> She laughed, "Maybe... but only if there's no robots in the movie." She playfully nipped his neck.

<Shaw> He groaned. "Done then."

<Jessica> She giggled, grinning against his neck, "Yay." She gave him a squeeze before letting go to look at the menus.
