2/3 Instance: Rachel in a pickle?

Post by Ferguson »

Current Timeline

rachel: Rachel ran over a mental list of things that weren't microwave safe before she hesitantly stuck the dish in and punched in a time. Eyeing the device for a few seconds, she turned to rummage through the fridge for a soda while the food heated and hopefully didn't explode.

Bobby: "...admittedly not my best plan, but who would have thought it'd turn green?" Bobby walked into the kitchen and paused when he saw Rachel, remembering their odd MySpace conversation. She thought baby animals were cute, huh? Sounded like hormonal instability. "Hey, Rae!" He leaned over her shoulder to peer into the fridge. "What'cha lookin' for, hmmm?"

Lorna: "I know, as if we could have seen that one coming." Lorna rolled her eyes and laughed. "But you have to admit, her face was priceless." Lorna trailed off as she saw Rachel as well. "Hey hey, hope you're avoiding your own cooking."

rachel: "Hey!" She jumped, glancing over her shoulder at the two. "I'm...uh, looking for the ketchup and a soda and sticking to what I hope are safe leftovers," Rachel grinned and pulled the things out of the fridge, slipping past Bobby to move back toward the microwave.

Bobby: "Ah, ketchup and soda, sounds like a tasty combo." He gave Lorna a meaningful look, then opened the fridge to look for something to eat himself. "There're pickles in here too. Just, you know, if anybody wants any."

Lorna: Lorna gave Bobby a nudge to let him know just how much he failed at this. There was probably a reason neither of them were on the infiltration team though. "Truly a food stand-by. Think I'll pass on the pickles though."

rachel: Rachel pulled her dish out of the microwave, poked at it with a fork, and put it back in for a few more seconds. She shrugged, leaning against the counter, "Guess I could have one."

Bobby: Bobby gave Lorna a puppy dog look at the nudge. What? He was total stealth! He shrugged and grabbed the pickle jar. Didn't sound half bad...

Bobby: Aha! "Sure thing." He kept the cheerful volume of his voice down this time, however, and took the jar to the counter, unscrewing the lid after a short battle and sliding it over to Rachel.

rachel: Reaching into the jar, she pulled a pickle out and slid it back toward Bobby, "So, how're you two?"

Lorna: "Oh we're good, good." Lorna sat down, avoiding the pickles herself though making a mental note to wait a while and then go crazy with them as Bobby seemed to be of the opinion that they were the obvious pregnancy food currently in the fridge. "Sort of a slow day."

rachel: Rachel nibbled on the pickle and moved to retrieve her macaroni again. Now that she was sure it was heated all the way through, she poured some of the ketchup on it and put the bottle back in the fridge. "Yeah, I've been kinda bored." Well, except for dealing with Neena. For some reason that was never boring, much to Rachel's disappointment.

Bobby: "Yep, we're good. Been doing our assigned amateur contracting duties as forced and all that." He peered up at the boarded-over holes in the ceiling. Ketchup? On macaroni and cheese? And pickles? Oh, hell yeah. He tried to not wrinkle his nose and fished out a pickle for himself.

Lorna: "Well, at least that's going pretty quickly nowadays." Lorna had to make a face over macaroni and cheese with ketchup. That was just wrong. She stole a glance to Bobby, nodding her sentiments that, yes, Rachel's food of choice was suspicious.

rachel: "I've kinda helped with everything. Probably could do more," she shrugged and took a spot on the counter, opening her soda.

Bobby: "Well, I'm sure if you don't feel up for it people would understand." At the raised eyebrow from Lorna, he dialed it back a little. "I mean, hell, it's not like Chuck couldn't hire actual qualified construction workers, or illegal immigrants, then just mindwipe them." He took a bite of pickle to shut himself up.

Lorna: "I'm telling you, we just don't see them." Lorna grinned, wanting to swat Bobby for the 'don't feel up for it' comment. "Handy thing, mindwiping."

rachel: Rachel eyed Bobby for a moment and took a bite, chewing before she spoke, "Heh, he could even round up the telepaths and have them mindwipe people for him."

Lorna: "Has he done that before..." Lorna arched an eyebrow at Rachel.

rachel: "I don't think so..."

Bobby: "Well, that's a fresh new nightmare for tonight then, isn't it?" Bobby snorted, hopping up on the counter with the pickle jar between himself and Rachel. "Though, you gotta wonder if he doesn't tune into those too for entertainment in the wee hours."

Lorna: "Always just assumed he went trolling through people's needs when he doesn't have the invisible help dancing in the ballroom." she shrugged. "But hey, has to be something nice about it, being able to tell people anything and then they won't remember it later."

rachel: She finished off the macaroni and set the bowl aside, shrugging and taking another pickle, "Takes more effort than you'd think it would."

Bobby: Bobby picked up the jar, swirling the contents around and staring into it. He looked up at that. "....that implies you've tried it." He tsked at Rachel. "Have you been a naughty girl in between dissolving professor's legs and woodland creatures?"

Lorna: "And just who's dreams are you trying to get into?" Lorna's eyebrows waggled and she laughed. "I do believe you're right, someone's been naughty." And not just for the reasons they were watching her current diet.

rachel: "No, of course not," Rachel grinned and shot them both her best innocent look.

Bobby: "Babe, you got horns holding up your halo there." He returned the grin, swirling the jar again. "Pickle?"

Lorna: "Come one, someone's got to have had a dream you're wanting to tell people about."

rachel: "No thanks. Think I'm good on food for now," she shook her head, "Not really. There's definitely things I wish I'd never seen though."

Bobby: Interesting. Bobby shrugged and fished out another pickle for himself. "Oh, come on, somebody has to have some interesting dreams around here. Nobody wets the bed from being chased by giant bunnies with big pointy teeth?" He illustrated the teeth with hooked fingers.

Lorna: "Well...I'm okay about leaving the bed wetting part out. Just need an excuse to give somebody a bunny maybe." Lorna laughed, despite the face she was making.

rachel: "I could make someone think there was killer bunnies after then," Rachel snickered, "If I was going to spy on anyone, it'd be Josh. And... I'm not going there."

Bobby: "Yeah... I guess there is that whole pesky invasion of privacy thing." He drummed his heels lightly against the cabinet, then stopped when the hinge popped. "Still though... gotta be tempting. I mean, no matter how well you know somebody, it'd be interesting to know what they really think. What secrets they might have..."

Lorna: "Mmmhmm" Lorna nodded. "Know I would be tempted...but yeah, privacy. Guess if you're meant to know people will tell you. Especially if it's important."

Bobby: Bobby looked over at Lorna. Well, what was the fun in that?

rachel: "Yeah, a bit tempting, I guess. Never really liked having telepathy. Comes in handy sometimes, but it gets annoying and usually freaks people out."

Bobby: "Well the freaking comes with the dark Sith persona, y'know." Bobby grinned at her. "Guess with Liz in Japan the student has truly become the master, eh? Guess you need to pick up a new apprentice. A little mini-me."

Lorna: "I'm almost afraid of who you'd pick...and how good of a student they would be." Lorna chuckled. Even with the not-so-subtle hints to drop secrets nothing seemed to be happening.

rachel: She smirked, "Guess so, but I have no idea who'd I choose... or how I'd pass on knowledge without starting another prank war..."

Bobby: "I dunno. We might be getting a little old for prank wars now. Johnny's getting to the age where he'll actually pay attention... and he'll know what an ass is pretty soon if we slip and say it in front of him." He gave Lorna a conspiratorial look at that.

Lorna: Lorna did her best to put on her most innocent of face. "Ass? What could you possibly mean? I'm sure Johnny's vocabularly is as pure as the fresh fallen snow."

rachel: "Suggesting I should corrupt small children?" Her eyebrow raised.

Bobby: "Maybe we should all agree to only corrupt our own small children. We already know Remy's is doomed already even without us pissing in Johnny's snow." He snorted. "I still say that kid's first word was 'teat,' I don't care what TJ said. 'Petite' doesn't sound like that."

Lorna: "Yeah, but we don't have any small children to corrupt." Lorna pouted. "And it's so much fun too." She snorted and nodded. "I just wonder how often they had to say that for him to get it lodged in his head."

rachel: Rachel shook her head, laughing, "As much fun as corrupting small children would be, I think I'd have to pass. Children scare me."

Bobby: "Well," he dragged the word out, giving Lorna his best grin. "We could take care of that." Rachel distracted him from that train of thought, however. Huh. Strike two. "Scare you? Aww, but they're cute, and if they give you any shit you just hold them at arm length until they stop kicking."

Lorna: "We could." Lorna decided it wasn't probably a good idea to talk about such subjects when the were dealing with the possibly pregnant. "Well...they can be sort of terrifying, yeah."

rachel: "I find them more gross than cute. Plus, all the responsibility, which is something I lack..."

Bobby: "I hear when they're your own you don't think they're gross. Sort of nature's dirty little trick so you don't leave them on a streetcorner." Bobby swirled the jar again, distracted now.

Lorna: "Well you don't lack responsibility." Lorna shruged. "Just motivation maybe?"

rachel: "Maybe," she returned the shrug, "Guess I'll never know though since I don't plan on having any..."

Bobby: And that put the last nail in that coffin for him. "Aww, no delightfully gloomy yet reflective kiddies?"

Lorna: "No 'Oscar for best drama'?"

rachel: Rachel snorted, "Highly doubt it."

Bobby: "Ooooooh, good one, Dee." Bobby decided that kind of genius deserved some sort of reward. "Pickle?"

Lorna: Lorna took her pickle prize with a grin and a thanks, biting into it. Well, that was one suspect down anyway unless Rachel was determined to be secretive.
