Winter 2015: Max and Penny

Post by steyn »

Christmas Morning...

<@Max> Max was wrapped up right against Penny. The tangled mess that was once a very fluffy and poofy soft bed cover was now strips that connected between the two spiky lovers. And Max was still asleep, nice and warm inside the fort he and Penny spent Christmas Eve night.

<Penny> One of the large pillows got lifted by an inch, Penny's bright blue eyes peeking out through the gap. She quickly scanned the room, which lay still and bathed in the warm, cozy light sent out from the large Christmas tree nearby. The pillow lowered again as the red-skinned girl retreating into their makeshift hideout to snuggle against Max's body.

<@Max> Max moaned feeling the limbs coming around him and hugging him awake. His pressed his face up against Penny's and kissed her, "Morning," he mumbled, eyes still closed with sleep.

<Penny> Penny replied in her very own way, returning the kiss by keeping her lips gently pressed to Max's, her tongue slipping into the boy's mouth. She pulled back, finishing her caress with a light nip of her teeth, before tilting her head so she could continue on explore the skin of his neck.

<@Max> Max hummed in satisfaction, nuzzling against Penny, an arm finally wriggling free from the the tattered constraints of the dearly departed bedsheet, and wrapping around Penny to hug her tightly.
*
<@Max> He smiled back down at her, kissing her again, keeping his body against hers for another while longer, before finally shifting, to lie down next to her, both on their sides, her legs shifting and entangling with his. After a while of serene calm, Max lifted a hand, and tried to sign the words, "Merry Christmas."

<Penny> Her smile turned into a grin, raising her hands to sign her response. "Merry Christmas!" Penny idly moved her legs, enjoyed the feeling of his skin against her own. She sidled closer, trying to trap as much warmth as possible between their bodies. A soft purr could be heard and felt from the depth of her throat.

<@Max> He pecked kisses on her mouth and nose and chin, this time actually breaking the silence with, "I got a present for you. Presents. Plural, because you're fantastic like that."

<Penny> Penny's eyes lit up, and she beamed a big grin back at Max. "I love presents," she signed, barely able to contain her excitement. "And being fantastic."

<@Max> Max gave a big wet smacking kiss on her forehead, before he struggled to get back on his knees to crawl out of their cushioned fort of love. He pulled back a cushion and peeked out, feeling the colder air as well. He looked back at Penny, "It's cold out there. But I'll brave it, just for you."

<Penny> "My hero," Penny signed back at him, before giving him a pining look and clasping her hands in front of her chest. Sitting up as well, she took a peek herself, the cold air instantly sending a shudder down on her back.

<Penny> "Oh no, I can't let you get out there all on your lonely self," she quickly signed. "You'll freeze, and then I'll have a frozen hedgehog for a boyfriend! I'll handle this!" And with that, she wrapped her arms around Max, pulling him back into their fort, before scrambling to climb out of it before him.

<@Max> Max flailed a little as his girlfriend tumbled him backwards into their nest. He looked up peering past his legs towards the opening that held no Penny. He pushed himself back up, and watched as his girlfriend crawled about the christmas tree in search of presents. He grinned from ear to ear watching her.

<Penny> Penny's claws skittered across the wooden floor as she bounded between the wrapped up packages underneath the large tree, relying on her keen nose and ear to deduce what might be in each of them. The entire Christmas decoration shook dangerously a couple of times as the spiky red girl got too eager.

<Penny> Eventually she found a box with her name on it, flashing a bright grin at Max while holding it up to show him. Then she sniffed the wrapping, and shook it next to her head.

<@Max> "That's jsut one, there's two more in there with your name on it," max told her, getting more comfortable on his stomach as he watched her scramble about some more. He ctually did hide them around the tree, knowing full well she would end up trying to find them. He was actually surprised she hadn't done so while he was asleep.

<Penny> It didn't take long for Penny to score, her crimson form reemerging from the tree with a bold jump, sending its decorations jingling. She carefully carried the one gift between her hands, and the other with her teeth, grinning around the package.

<@Max> "And those two makes three, quick, come back in here before you catch a cold, or die of frostbite." he said as he backed up, making way for her.

<Penny> Cradling all the presents in her arms, Penny quickly scampered back to their fort, diving into its cozy warmth. Laying out the wrapped packages in front of her, she sat cross-legged, while Max pulled the pillow-walls back in place. The girl wore an impish smile on her face, trying to decide which box to unwrap first.

<@Max> "I suggest starting with the big one and working your way down." he said, still grinning like a naked porcupine idiot. Before she delved in, he added, "Wait, before you open them, can I get a kiss?" he asked, leaning in.

<Penny> Penny put on a thoughtful expression, tapping a finger against her chin. "Okay, but then the presents better be good," she joked, signing the words with a grin. Leaning in, she shared a lingering kiss with her boyfriend, before finally sitting back to grab the bigger package.

<Penny> She looked focused, her long claws carefully slicing the wrapping before she pulled it off. Showing Max an excited smile, she then proceeded to pull off the lid, revealing lots of black leather and shiny metal.

<@Max> "Yours are a bit worn out, so I went a little hunting." Max explained, "Found a leather place that specialised in heavy duty strong leather products, and I got this other place to cut the right shapes and stuff like your old ones. Plus I thought you'd like the pretty buckles too." he grinned.

<Penny> Penny looked up frome the contents of the box, revealing her teeth with an excited grin, not replying with anything because that would have meant putting those amazing pieces of metal and leather out of her hands. The straps were made of thick, black leather, and every single one of the buckles looked different than the others.

<Penny> There were even thick, shiny metal rings attached to loops on the outside. Those looked really handy to attach all kinds of different things to, such as her chalkboard. Penny finally let go of them, a huge grin on her face. "Thank you," she signed. "Those are so pretty!"

<@Max> Max was so happy she liked it, he was bouncing a little where he sat, "Was a little worried there might have been a chance you didn't like them," he said. "Now for the middle one." he urged her.

<Penny> Penny looked back at Max and nodded, then grabbed the much smaller package. The tip of her tongue was tucked into the corner of her mouth as she sliced through the wrapping of this one, as well, then carefully lifted the lid of the small, flat box. She blinked at what she saw, looking slightly confused, a frown on her face.

<Penny> "A key?" She rested the open box on her knee, signing at Max with a puzzled smile. "What does it unlock?"

<@Max> "A room. Your room. My room. Our room." he grinned, "I asked if we could get a room together. We don't need to sneak about or ask people if we can stay the night together anymore." he said, biting his lip, hoping her frown will turn upside down.

<Penny> And it did, Penny looking stunned at first, then radiating silent excitement. Clasping the key between her hands, she even did a little bounce. "Yay!" She signed, nearly dropping the key. "We're never gonna leave that room again!"

<@Max> "Say what?" he started but then got cut off with a kiss. When they parted again, he added, "I hope we can leave to get food." His eyes went ot the last present, and the butterflies in his stomach felt like several Mothras.

<Penny> Penny's gaze followed Max's, eying the smallest of the three packages. She bit her lip, picking it up very carefully, trying not to reveal her excitement as she slowly peeled off the wrapping. Her heart beat a little faster when the small, black box was revealed underneath. She held her breath, shooting her boyfriend a look.

<@Max> Max shifted up to her, pushing the wrappings and paper aside, sitting on his knees, nearly agaisnt her, and took her hands into his while holding the box. He helped her open the little black box. "Penny... Yvette St. Croix, would you make me the happiest porcupine in the world and be my wife?" he asked as the content of the box was revealed.

<Penny> Penny had turned into a crimson, spiky statue, her body frozen as she felt her heart skip a beat. At first only her eyes were able to move, staring right into Max's. Then her lips followed, quivering as they parted only a little bit. She bit down on the lower one, trying hard to not start grinning like a goofy idiot.

<Penny> In the end, there was only one thing that could be done about it. Signing a huge "Yes!" with her trembling fingers, Penny nodded, before she could no longer contain herself and threw herself into Max's arms, overwhelming him with a fierce kiss.

Late New Years Eve...

<@Max> Max pushed himself up from the bed. Well, their bed. His grin crept back on his face as he sat on the edge. "I think it's time to find more supplies," he told Penny. They were holed up in their room nearly constantly since Christmas, thoroughly enjoying their presents, and now on New Year's Eve they were keeping themselves busy until midnight. "Anything particular you're craving for? We got over an hour to spend and I think I need a break before doing anything else."

<Penny> Penny turned to lie on her back, smiling at her fiance before stretching extensively, thus ruining the already torn up bedsheets some more. She raised her hands to sign a response. "I've got everything I need here." Putting on a thoughtful expression, she then added: "Are there apples?"

<@Max> "Last I checked there wee apples. You sure you just want apples? Last night you said you just wanted an apple and then after eating it you wanted a peach, and after that a banana and then the peanutbutter as well." he thumbed towards the empty jar on the nightstand.

<Penny> "I did," Penny agreed, a cryptic smile on her lips as she thought back to the night before. "But I'm pretty sure I want those grapes now. I mean, apples."

<@Max> Max squinted at his fiance. "Riiight." he said, edging furth on the bed to stand up. He grabbed the emergency pants and put them on. "Apples.... and maybe grapes as well. Just in case."

<Penny> "And some cheese," Penny signed from the bed, grinning sheepishly.

<@Max> "Okay, so it's apples, grapes and cheese. And I'm personally just in the mood for somehting to drink, so I'll grab some juice for both of us. And maybe some chips. Hopefully if there are any left." he put on a shirt that got shredded on his previous return of a foodrun. Max leaned over and kissed Penny then headed for the door.

<Penny> Penny signed a quick "Thanks!" and an "I love you!" before she waved at Max. The moment he was out of he door, the red-skinned girl tumbled off the bed and went for the drawer in her nightstand.

<Max> Max suddenly realized how cold the mansion was the moment he was out of the room. He briskly made his way down to the kitchen and grabbed a bag and filled it with everything Penny wanted, before thinking about it and added icecream to the bag. He grabbed a carton of juice and two glasses, then made his way back up, already yearning for that wonderfully warm room with that woderfully warm bed next to his wonderfully warm fiance. He felt giddy at the word fiance.

<Penny> Penny was sitting upright on the bed when Max returned from his mission for food, her legs crossed and her hands hidden behind her back. She was flashing the quill-covered porcupine boy a wide grin as the entered their new room.

<Max> "It... is cold out there." he said, closing the door behind him. "Speaking of cold, I got something extra, something a little sweeter than fruit... and cold, but the good kind of cold." he added as he placed the food on the bed and started taking off his clothing to get back into their bed.

<Penny> Responding with a smile, Penny kept her hands behind her back, instead shifting a little on the bed to make room for Max. When he came closer, she put on a rather awkward smile and revealed the small wrapped box she had been hiding from him, holding it out now.

<Max> Max paused as he climbed on the bed. He shifted to sit in front of her, "What's this? Forgot to give it on christmas?" he joked, and took it.

<Penny> Penny gave a shy shrug and smirked. "I had to wait for the right moment," she signed. As she watched him unwrap the small box, she bit her lip. "I hope you like it..."

<Max> With the tip of his tongue sticking out the corner of his mouth, Max pulled the wrapping off and then opened the top of the box. His brows scrunched up in confusion, and took out the plastic pen thing. "What is this? A coffee stirrer?" he asked, turning the thing around and then realization struck. "Is this a..."

<Penny> The crimson girl was still biting her lip, the edges of her mouth curling to form a sheepish smile. She nodded, ignoring her heart skipping a beat as she anticipated his reaction, the tension barely tolerable.

<Max> Max was speechless for a long moment as he studied the stick. "So.. the little plus..does.... does that mean you're... pregnant?"

<Penny> Her lower lip was actually hurting now, and the blood was rushing in her ears as her heart beat faster and faster. Penny gave the tiniest nod, watching Max with big, expectant eyes.

<Max> Max slowly looked between the stick and Penny, "We're gonna have a kid. I'm gonna be a dad." he said as it sinked in, "I'm gonna be a dad! We're gonna have a baby! Oh my gosh, Penny, this is incredible!" he said as he went at her, his body against hers and kissing her on the mouth, "You're pregnant! Oh no, the baby." he said, before backing up a bit, being suddenly precarious around Penny's stomach.

<Penny> The tension that that been constraining Penny's chest evaporated in an instant, replaced by an incredible rush of joy. She flashed a huge grin and Max and took him into a tight hug, despite the scared look on his face. "You,re so cute," she signed at him. "Don't worry, nothing can happen."

<Penny> She paused and took a deep breath. "So... you're happy? Yes?"

<Max> "Yes? Yes! Of course I am! Who wouldn't? I'm gonna be a dad! Oh no, I'm gonna be a dad, what if I suck at it? What if I drop the baby? Penny, don't you dare let me drop that baby." he ordered her.

<Penny> Penny performed a playful salute. "Understood, oh my future husband," she signed at him, looking overjoyed. "The only thing I worry is about you worrying too much," she then added, smiling wryly at the brown-skinned boy. "If the child will be anything like me, it'll have a super-hard head, anyway."

<Max> "But what if he's like me? Do special helmets come in baby size? Just in case..." Max asked.

<Penny> "It'll be fine, Max," Penny signed, wearing a reassuring expression. "It's still early. We'll figure everything out. And there's Doctor Hank. He'll help us."

<Max> "Oh, wait, we should get books and stuff from him. And do the whole baby... scanner thing." Max pondered. "Do we start thinking up names now or before the baby is born? Wait, where will we keep the baby?" he added. "Are we allowed to have babies in the dorms? I am not keeping my kid outside."

<@Penny> Penny raised her hands, trying to sign soothing responses back at Max, but unable to keep up with his barrage of questions. She let out a sigh and sank back on the bed. "I don't know," she eventually replied. "But we'll figure it out. Together, yes?"

<Max> That was more than enough reassurement he needed. He stopped his moment of panic and smiled at Penny. He leaned forward and gave her anouther kiss, then shuffled to lie down next to her. "I have something to say." he finally added.

<@Penny> "Even more?" Penny faked an astounded look as she signed her reply for Max. "You've been doing nothing else the last few minutes." She put on an impish little smile, before leaning over to kiss him herself.

<Max> Max grinned, then said, "My feet are cold. I think the ice cream is leaning against them."

<@Penny> Penny blinked, then raised her hand to give Max a playful bonk on the head. A heartfelt smile appeared on her lips, as she signed "I love you," for Max, before grabbing him to pull him down with her.

Max: Max was snuggled against Penny on the couch, the blanket covering them now in such a tangled mess that it would need scissors for them to escape. Thankfully they made a really big bowl of popcorn while they watched tv. He hugged his fiance a little harder before eating a handful of popcorn.

Penny: Penny leaned into the embrace, snuggling against Max. A soft purr radiated outwards from her throat as she rested her head on her fiance's shoulder. Being somewhat pinned, she instead looked at him with a smile, before opening her mouth in expectation of some popcorn treat.

Max: With one stuck arm thanks to quills hooking into the blanket, his free hand was the designated feeding arm, having to do its job for both Max and Penny's mouths. Max pekced Penny's cheek before giving her a couple popcorns. "You know, when the movie's done, we're gonna ruin this blanket getting out of it."

Penny: Leaning in, Penny pressed a kiss on Max's lips, before she wriggled enough to get had hands free to sign a reply. "Can we ruin the couch, too?" She smirked impishly.

Max: "I don't think we're allowed to ruin this one as well... besides, I think that's one of the big reasons why they gave us a room to share." He grinned back at Penny, cuddling against her while watching the movie on tv. "You know, I think I know why the gremlins are such bad guys."

Penny: "Then we should make good use of it," Penny replied, before turning her head to squint at the screen. "And why is that," she asked Max, looking back at him with a curious expression.

Max: "Well, look at them, they don't have any eggs an sausage. No wedding tackle. No dingalings. poor little guys, I bet if they had ticklebits, then they'd be way too busy to be horrible little monsters." Max nodded sagely.

Penny: Tilting her head, Penny gave the little buggers on the screen a closer look, a frown showing on her face. "You're right," she signed at Max. "Those poor little things." After a brief pause, a sly smile appeared on her face. "Does that mean you'd become a little monster like them if I didn't keep you busy all day long?"

Max: "Ehh, doubt it, chances are I'd keep myself busy all day long. Like I said, they're only like that because of their lack of playthings. Family jewels. Joysticks. Mmman-roots." Max joked.

Penny: Penny gave him a long look. "Why did I agree to marry you again," she asked, signing the words at him. "It must be because you're cute. There's no other way."

Max: "That and you adore my man-stick. My ding dong. My dodaddy. My fishingrod. Joy knob. My mmagic rod. My one eyed wonder-worm." Max said, eating some popcorn with a huge grin on his face, before finally adding, "Thrrrobbing python of lurv."

Penny: Hadn't Penny been mute, she would have snorted with laughter at this point. Instead, she simply crawled further up Max's body, pushed her lips against his, before concluding their kiss with a playful nip. "You're terrible," she then signed. "I love you."

Max: He licked the tip of her nose and kissed her back, signing "I love you more." Doesn't matter how cliche'd that was, it was the thought that counts. He then added, "Sssspitting cobra," giving her big eyes as he said it.

Penny: Flashing a grin, Penny tugged her arms undereath the pillow to poke the blunt knuckles of her fingers into his sides, tickling him mercilessly.

Max: "Argh, ah haha, hee, stop, stop it, nooo," Max giggled and squirmed, his one arm staying entangled and stuck to the blanket, while the other was the only one able to try and stop her. "I'll stop, I'll stop, uncle, uncle, I'll stop with the names."

Penny: Penny finally slowed down, the blanket getting lifted up again as she peeked out from under it. She shifted further up, pulling free her hands. "You're going to make a wonderful father," she told him, finishing the signs with a smile.

Max: Max glowed at what she said, "You really think so?" he asked. "I think I'll end up spoiling the kid. I'm not good with the word no." he bumped his head against Penny's, "You on the other hand, you'll be an amazing mom... actully... you'll be a milf." he grinned.

Penny: "I sure hope so," Penny responded, the smirk returning. She shifted to lie on the side, cradling her head on Max's shoulder, her face against the skin of his neck. "Speaking of, I read something interesting," she signed a moment later. "They say pregnant women feel really... eager."

Max: "That explains why we stayed in our room for almost two nights in a row." Max joked. "But...uh... that's only like in the beginning of pregnancy, right? I mean... I'm guessing no hanky panky after a certain month."

Penny: Penny frowned and gave Max a puzzled look. "Why not," she asked, keeping her hands raised. "I've never heard of such a rule before."

Max: "Doesn't it.. you know... um... bother the baby? Like, all the bumping around." he asked. "Then again, not like I'll be poking the kid's eye out or something."

Penny: After blinking a couple times, a big grin appeared on Penny's face, and she gave Max a playful swat on his spiky head. "Do you really think you've got what it takes to make that joke?" She leaned down to kiss him affectionally. "Don't worry, though. I've heard it's perfectly safe."

Penny: She pushed herself up a little and shrugged. "Besides, if you're that concerned, there are other ways I could keep you happy."

Max: "Actually, two things, the first, I really didn't think I had what it took to make that joke, that's why I said I wouldn't be able to. Secondly, I'd rather keep doing what we're doing to keep both of us happy."

Penny: "Just when I wanted to suggest a less well-endowed replacement for you during that time," Penny remarked, grinning mischievoulsy at Max.

Max: "Aww, you just suggested I'm well endowed, that's so sweet, and it's not even my brithday. Was that a late christmas present? You know it's naughty to lie, don't you?" Max joked.

Penny: She sat up, the edge of her mouth curled to reveal a suggestive smirk. "Oh no, you caught me being a naughty girl," she signed, putting on an exaggerrated look of surprise. "And I guess we both know what you gotta do with those when you catch them."

Max: "Timeout?" he asked.

Penny: That brought a grin to her face, but then her expression turned thoughtful. "I'm sure we could find a way to make even that exciting," Penny signed.

Max: "You know, if we keep being exciting, we won't be able to think of something even more exciting for the honeymoon." he said, shuffling a little until his other hand finally came free from the blanket, but now tingled with pins and needles.

Penny: Penny's eyebrows arched upwards as her face lit up. "Ooh, we really should think of an awesome place to go for that," she eagerly signed.

Max: "Someplace warm, really warm, and beachy, really beachy, with sand, sandy sand." Max suggested. "Not south africa, we can head there anytime after we're married. If we can figure out a way to get to a tropical island, then I'd be ecstatic. New york winters are losing their charm."

Penny: She sucked on her lower lip while she pondered there options. Eventually, Penny snapped her fingers and beamed a grin down at Max. "We could go to the Caribbean." She covered one of her eyes with her hand for a moment. "The adventures of the fearsome Captain Quillmane and the dashing Lady Scarlet."

Max: "I don't think there's that kind of pirates there anymore. But I would love to do it anyway." he grinned. "Yarr, swab me poopdeck." he added.

Penny: "We could go on a boat trip," Penny suggested excitedly, before she turned thoughtful again. "We just really shouldn't get a rubber dinghy for the two of us."

Max: "Now I'm wondering what kind of pirate program there is in the DR." he pondered. Then pondered about something else. "Penny, are we going to get hitched before or after the baby's born?"

Penny: Penny blinked, realizing this was a good question and that she hadn't actually been thinking about that yet. "I... I'm not sure," she signed back at him, before tapping a claw against her chin. "What do you think? I mean, we don't have to wait that long..."

Max: "No, we don't. In fact, if we marry before, then technically the baby won't be a bastard. Oh he might grow up one, but not in the literal sense. Or she, he or she. No I mean he. If it's a she, then she'll stay perfectly sweet and innocent. And her first boyfriend will discover the wrath of the Quill."

Penny: Penny frowned at that. "Then I guess it'll be up to me to teach her that boys are there to be had fun with," she replied, a tiny smirk curling her lips.

Max: "Don't you dare, I won't have her even know what a trouser snake is until she's thirty." Max said pointing at Penny.

Penny: "And I'll sneak out with her at night to the hottest parties," Penny signed back, leaning forward to press a kiss to Max's forehead. "Or maybe I'll just have to keep you distracted while she's out having fun."

Max: "You'll have your job cut out for you." Max told Penny. "So, out of curiosity... have you thought of any names yet?"

Penny: "Oh, yes, all the time." Penny nodded, before letting her shoulders slump. "But this is hard. There are so many nice names. How do you pick one." She frowned. "And I can't speak them out loud. That makes it even harder."

Max: "I think we just make a list of names, I'll read them outloud and you'll say wether you like the sound of them. It'll be like Idols, we get rid of the ones that doesn't sound nice, then we end up asking other people which ones they'd like to win."

Penny: Penny thought about that for a moment, then revaled a happy smile and nodded. "That actually sounds like a lot of fun!"

Max: "Fantastic, second place can be kept aside in case we end up having another one. Just a warning though, I don't think we should end up having more than two kids. My parents got these friends and they have three kids. The oldest ended up in jail several times, the youngest is the most horrible thing, spoiled beyond repair, and the middle one's been in therapy since he was like eight or nine."

Penny: "I feel that no matter how many kids we'll end up having, they're all going to turn out wonderful," Penny signed, smiling. "But let's focus on this one for now, yes?"

Max: "Yeah, good idea," Max nodded, "Let's just hope we won't end up having twins like Pietro and Illyana. Now that'll be sleepless nights."

Penny: Penny cocked her head. "On the other thand, better sleepless once instead of several times in a row," she remarked with a nod. "At least we can be pretty sure our kid probably won't be teleporting around anytime soon."

Max: "Ha!" Max laughed, "But then again, think of all the baby clothes that'll only last one day. We'll end up changing more baby clothes than nappies."

Penny: "Don't worry, that's what duct tape is for," Penny replied, grinning goofily.

Max: "Oh dear, diaper rash will be the least of the kid's problems." Max snorted.

Penny: "But we're still going to be totally awesome parents, yes," she asked, still wearing that excited, big grin.

Max: "Definitely." Max answered.

You guys better not be faking-out either because they are just too adorable! Makes me want to snuggle them both... except for the whole spiky thing.

Also, better hope the kid isn't born spiky... ow.
