Sorry, all, the Web server went down sometime after 10:30 a.m. UTC and I'm not sure why; thank you all for letting me know.
Cheers,

Re: Halp! Trill unable to connect to chat.
You need to use chat.nightscrawlers.com instead of chat.shadowedcorner.com. The domain shadowedcorner.com is now unavailable to anyone without IPv6 connectivity, and chat.* only existed for backwards compatibility anyway.

Re: Halp! Trill unable to connect to chat.
Can you give me the connection details you're using? The only thing that's changed on the server side is that shadowedcorner.com, which I may have specified in connection instructions ages ago, is now my playground for IPv6 testing and isn't going to be accessible to, well, most of the Internet. You...

Chat and all services have been restarted. This downtime was not planned; I am investigating the cause.

Re: Halp! Trill unable to connect to chat.
Well, the update in chat is irrelevant; there's been no downtime thus far, though I may post a downtime announcement later in the week. The server's up and you can connect via Java, so I'm not sure what it could be; I'd look at firewalls on your computer(s) that may be blocking outbound connections ...

Re: New Forum Platform: Issues and Questions
If you click Preview, your Web browser should never show that the page has expired, because you are requesting a new page. It should only show that the page has expired if you are requesting the page again. Therefore, I'm not sure to what I can attribute this behavior (browser configuration, browser...

Re: New Forum Platform: Issues and Questions
I've instituted a number of rewrite rules that should translate old forum URLs to new ones and update bookmarks. Please let me know if you can find any links to the old forum that are not translated properly; I'm reviewing web server logs every day and hoping to see a considerable drop in the number...

It looks to me like you did; the logs show you modified it and it has no password now. :pSlarti wrote:Yeah, and i'm trying to learn it too... I *think* I fixed the game planner forum issue.

Re: New Forum Platform: Issues and Questions
No, that's fine, and I would have done it earlier, except I had to update a Today's Posts mod that was written for phpBB ten versions ago. :p Getting used to the mod system to make all changes is a bit of work but totally worth it. Once I have even Nightscrawlers' custom additions as mods, I can go ...

Re: New Forum Platform: Issues and Questions
To the former, I'll look into it. I think that's just the way a forum with a password works in phpBB, and the easiest thing to do might be to just remove the password and let permissions handle who has access as they do already; I see no need for both barriers to entry. To the latter, maybe? phpBB j...

There's still bio's missing info, and one's with weird characters in them Are they newer ones? 2/23 Announcement: Custom Profile Fields!
One nice thing about the new forum platform is we can have whatever custom profile fields we want without having to modify the code! You'll find all custom titles from the old forum platform have been moved over and are visible within the mini-profile while viewing topics. Also, I hear tell there mi...

Encoding issues have been fixed! Please let me know if you see any more old posts with weird characters. There should be no encoding issues in the future, pretty much no matter what you do. (Paste from Word documents, do what you like.)

Re: New Forum Platform: Issues and Questions
Just an update so you all know I'm not ignoring this issue: I spent six hours or so trying to migrate the old threads into the new forum platform without affecting threads that have already been migrated; unfortunately, there are some problems with conflicting thread and post IDs. I have to rethink ...

It is indeed port 6000. And I'm absolutely going to recover old posts; if I have time tonight, I'll do it tonight, but it may have to wait until the weekend.

Re: How to use chat on android device?
Android devices run Java *kind of*. It would be more correct to say they run Android applications. You should be able to access chat with any Android IRC client; I think Slarti's had success using AndChat; just search the Market for AndChat or pname:net.andchat.

Re: Registrations frozen
We have set up a new CAPTCHA plugin, and are hoping this will cut down on the spam. Registrations have been re-enabled for now. They will not be completely disabled in the future; at the worst, they will require administrator activation.

Re: New Forum Platform: Issues and Questions
Ah, any posts that weren't in Cockrum Corner and were more than a year old were pruned as part of the migration. It was discussed and seemed like a good idea at the time but obviously there were other forums that should have been exempt. I'm looking into a way now to selectively move some more from ...

Hm, let's try to get more input in this thread. Should the alternate theme be black and white like Nightscrawlers Mourning, or just darker shades of everything? (The latter is probably easier to do, though I'm not sure.)

Re: New Forum Platform: Issues and Questions
I don't know how to edit my previous post but during some poking about on the UCP I found the thing that went odd with the avatars. You have to define what height and width the picture is yourself on the page where you upload the avatar. The max width and height is still 100x200 though. The maximum...
