lol, reviews!

Alright, here are some more lol, reviews! for Wednesday's new books. Quick note - Civil War and most related titles have been delayed a month. I want to see if my predictions about Ares are right, dammit! Moving on! 52 #15 (DC) - Booster Gold Memorial Issue. He will be missed. Alius Rex Book One (In...

Fizz - I doubt Forge can keep it straight who is 'true love' is. Plus, it was an alternate reality Forge that sent Nimrod back.

Nandi - Sorry to hear you won't be picking something up for a couple of weeks, but I'm glad my review helped.

lol, reviews!

In this post I will do a quick once-over of all the titles that I read that came out on Wednesday. The format will be as follows - Title/issue #, quick review, then a liked it/didn't like it declaration. 52 #14 (DC) - More crazy twists and turns in this weekly comic. Good emoting from Steel, and the...

Wizard World Chicago was Awesome!

I had a heck of a lot of fun. My friend that I went to support basically had everything fall out from under the book he was trying to do, only to have it rebuilt around him with new artists and a few new ideas. So in the end, it was all good. Got some cool art done, found some cheap comics/trades, s...

If you need help figuring out what you can do, and you're over 18, read Transmetropolitan - available in fine book stores everywhere! But seriously? Get out there and vote, get your friends to vote. As much as I may complain at times, I do love this country and we have this really cool way built int...

Uncanny X-Men General Discussion Reload

Nightcrawler has gone against Xavier in the past. Specifically in Excalibur during one of the big crossovers (can't remember which - Legion maybe?). Xavier comes to Muir Island because he needs their help, but instead of asking he just starts ordering them around. Nightcrawler is none too pleased wi...

Runaways

That was an absolutely unforeseen ending! I really liked that last panel of the death scene bit - with the color fading off to black and white?

Holy damn ... I do love this series.

I'm With Nightcrawler

Well, it seems the question may remain academic - Kurt will more than likely be out in space (in Uncanny X-Men) for the next year, so he won't have to choose sides until at least the Civil War mini-series is over. That doesn't necessarily mean that he won't show up in Civil War X-Men (which comes ou...

Uncanny X-Men General Discussion Reload

Nothing wrong in my eyes with pushing a character as 'the next big thing.' It's simple marketing - show off this new character, get him on to people's radars so they'll care when he does make an appearance. This exact thing happened with Speedball and the New Warriors when Civil War was being hyped....

Wait, how is he being pushed as 'the new Wolverine'? Brubaker said in an interview that one of his first ideas for his first arc was a story without Wolverine.

Maybe I just missed something?

Uncanny X-Men General Discussion Reload

The new Uncanny is actually really good. It looks like a fine set up for a year long story arc. It's in space, which means that there won't be so much confusion of 'why are the uncanny team, the astonishing team, and the adjectiveless team all at the mansion but they never seem to help each other ou...

The NEW NEW Excalibur (with Nocturne, etc.)

From the cover, it looks like TJ is wearing a jester's sort of outfit. Now, I understand this might be worrisome at first, but in Shakespeare the Fool always got the best lines.

...of course, a good amount of them ended up dead...

Strong Women in Comics (or Joss Whedon is my heeerro!)

I think that the only proof one needs of Emma's strength is in Astonishing X-Men #14. Sure, there are more powerful telepaths out there in terms of brute force, but Emma can be the most manipulative. I don't think Emma's ever limited herself to just sex and sex appeal to get what she wants - she wil...

Well, to be fair, we didn't say they didn't have sex either... What a conundrum.

I'm looking forward to Brubaker's run as well. His Deadly Genesis was pretty good, and the previews and comments from him I've seen are pretty agreeable. I don't know about X-Factor being the best book out there, but it's been really good for the nine issues so far (and the Madrox trade as well). Th...
