Strong Women in Comics (or Joss Whedon is my heeerro!)

If you haven't watched that video yet, do it now. I'll be back later to discuss strong females in comic books, because there is too much to discuss for me to get into it right now.

...but some of Neil Gaiman's characters come to mind...

The Metasciences - Four-color Love Story. It's really sweet, especially to comic geeks like us.

I would also recommend the original four issue series from the eighties. He's not written quite like that anymore (or drawn that way, either), but it's a really fun Nightcrawler story/adventure. I believe Kurt will be featured prominently in the next arc of Uncanny X-Men, so that may be something to...

Alright, so who read the Civil War tie-in? This is probably the least 'new reader friendly' CW tie-in so far, but holy crap was it awesome! I'll let someone else do a real review of it, but if you've been liking the series so far, the new issue doesn't disappoint. Layla Miller as [spoiler]Quicksilve...

I would at least go see it at the dollar theater (there's a couple moments that just won't be as cool on DVD unless you have an immense home entertainment system with some fierce surround sound). Kevin Spacey stealing it was right ... he had the facial expressions and line delivery down pat. My abso...

Being noisy, really. Doug can be a light sleeper, so if Jamie's up there on his computer, or playing video games, or arguing with his dupes, or whatever, then Doug probably won't get any sleep. And, unlike most of the rest of the mansion, Doug has a problem asking Jamie to leave his own room.

This one ... there's plenty of info on this at Newsarama (three interviews at least, one with Moore, one with the artist Melinda something, and one with the publisher). Now, this is one I'm not sure if I'll pick up. I applaud the fact that it's being published, especially the idea behind it. Moore s...

He wasn't depowered, not really. It was another one of those mental blocks he put on himself because of his self-esteem issues. Emma turned his powers back on when they were under attack by sentinels. As for why Deadpool is on the side of registration ... well, he isn't. They're just paying him some...

So I just finished volume five and I have to say ... Holy shit. Goddamn. I'll probably swing by my store before it closes for number six. They've all hit it on the head as far as comics go. Heck, I had a lady come in the shop last week who was surprised (!) they still published Superman comics. Now, the guys and gals that come by for comics will do it on the way to work/on their lunchbreak/on their way home. As far as numbers go, I th...

I'm a really big geek you guys.

I mean, you knew that, but really.

Every time someone asked me about today in that, 'hey, you know what's happening right?' tone of voice, I'd be - "Yeah - 62nd anniversary of the D-Day invasion at Normandy!"

...

Yeah.

His hair is indeed Hulk related! The longer it is, the stronger he is (I'm pretty sure...). The Doc Samson mini-series just ended, so you may be able to find all five issues. It's really pretty fun - a mixture of super-strength fisticuffs and super hero psychology. As for Uncanny ... can't wait to s...

Darn, wish Doug could've made it. However, the cultural differences wouldn't have happened so easily, so then it might not have been so funny to read afterward.

Now I'm just trying to picture Doug running five miles ... or even walking it all at one time.
