Let's Have A Serious Talk About Beer

The Occupy Wall Street Movement

YOU hold the cock of the Empire in your supple hands!
Now that is an interesting way of putting it. I wonder who's behind this.

The Occupy Wall Street Movement

I'm not sure why this has to be fundamentally American. There seem to be many international connections, to the movements in Egypt, Syria, Lybia and the rest of the middle east, and to Europe, in particular Greece. There is a wind blowing.

Can you quote the part of this very long thread you are referring to? All I have been able to find is complaints about competition by low-cost Chinese workers, one Valerie making a vague and unsubstantiated claim, and a plan by some Chinese gentleman to produce t-shirts and bumper stickers with logo...

Wolverine and the X-men

Yes it does feel old timey. It shows things like fun, anything-might-happen adventure, consistently written likable characters, and maybe in time even a good story. You know, the sort of things the X-men used to be about before Marvel decided that death, "edgyness" and gloom are better for...

I loved #1 and I happily recommend it. It's pretty funny. Poor Kitty, poor Toad, and poor, poor old Wolvie! So here's kick off of the appreciation thread! Did you read it? What did you think?

The Occupy Wall Street Movement

I'm glad to see a bit of fire in this generation at last. It was about time. And they have just points. I'm reminded of the Damslapers, the hippies who slept on the Dam square in Amsterdam in 1969. The navy came and kicked their asses, but in the end most of the things they stood for came to pass, b...

My Big Three X-books

Well, the first X-book I got into was actually Scott Lobdell and Chris Bachalo's Generation X. After that I started picking up the paperbacks with the old Claremont Uncannies, with art by Cockrum and Byrne. The later Uncanny X-men issues dit not appeal to me, and I bought up anything I could find of...

Oh all that flirting do I have to watch this

I can't believe they wrote and acted themselves out of that one, and got away with it. Not going to say much (Spoilers!) But London-at-all-times looked like not such a bad thing to me, and nice nod to Indiana Jones (Rats!). I love this show.

Hey, the Wee Free Men! The Nac Mac Feegle have arrived in the Marvel universe and not a kilt in sight.
I like it. And I'm a big fan of the way Bachalo draws Kurt, so I'm in. I wonder how I can get these...
*edit*
so this means there are 3 covers with little blue men?

The iPod Generation

I'm old enough to remember a world without internet, and I do not agree. I'm not the kind of person who easily engages with the community, and the internet has greatly improved my life, because I can now find kindred spirits, and communicate with them on my own terms. Can't speak much on behalf of &...

Can I just briefly comment on "The girl who waited" and say that this is amazing television? They may have beaten "The doctor's wife" with this one, and I did not think that was possible. This is the golden age of Doctor Who.

I didn't think I was going to like River, but she grew on me. You have to love a character who gets lines like:

"Well, I was on my way to this gay Gypsy bar mitzvah for the disabled when I suddenly thought, 'Gosh, the Third Reich's a bit rubbish. I think I'll kill the Führer."

Thank goodness you're ok. Looks like there was some major damage there. You really don't want to think about what could happen when a full force hurricane hits! Let's hope it does not happen in our life time. The funny thing is, by the way- we're supposed to be affected by Irene here in western Euro...

I thought it was nice to bring this up as a reminder. There has been an influx of new users recently(welcome!), and Marvel is waking up the dead...And voilà, people are posting again. Excellent! It has always been like this and there have always been quiet and busy times. But there is a core of gen...

Mmm, Red Dwarf. As for the doctor, where have you been all my life? I had the serious bad luck of growing up in a part of the world where DW never really made it on tv (except for a brief stint on the TROS tv station when I was 6, and I had nightmares about that man with his long scarf for years aft...
