Re: this coffee tastes like ass
Update on my friend and her baby. They were able to stop labor for another couple weeks to give her a bit more time and give the baby a somewhat better shot. A couple of days ago she went back into labor. After about fourteen hours, her little guy was born... silent. He opened his eyes and tried to ...

Re: this coffee tastes like ass
My husband and kids are having the time of their lives at Salt Lake Fan XPerience. I had opted to skip it this year because I couldn't afford a table and attending conventions as just a fan hasn't been as fun since crowding indordinantly stresses me out. Just when I thought I might be able to knuckl...

So I'm not the only one who felt this last issue was very rushed, then.

Re: Claremont to return to Nightcrawler!
Ehhh, I don't see gender stereotypes as being a prevalent problem in Claremont's work. He has a grasp on writing female characters who don't fit the "girlfriend" role that too many other writers- including a number of newer ones- lack. As for Gail Simone, I've seen a lot of sides to both h...

let us not forget that this was just her opinion and not a fact and when you choose to put your opinion out there you are running the risk of negative back lash, so you can stand by your statement and persevere with out sinking to the level of the troll that slighted you, or you could sink to there...

Re: Claremont to return to Nightcrawler!
#7 was wonderful, though there really wasn't much plot to speak of. This issue really made heavy use of Claremont's strengths- a wonderful grasp on scripting, beautiful prose, and the ability to get into a character's head and make people care what they're thinking and feeling.

Re: Claremont to return to Nightcrawler!
And all of that, in turn, is tribute to the John Carter of Mars books, of which Claremont and the late, great Dave Cockrum have been huge fans.

Re: this coffee tastes astounding!
A couple of years ago, I was privileged to meet two of the loveliest people ever, a couple remaining strong through nearly five very harrowing years, wondering if their son was alive and if they'd ever see him again. Today, while at a book signing celebrating the tenth anniversary of my local comic ...

Re: Nightcrawler's name
They sure did. Another nice thing about some family within the circus named Wagner adopting Kurt is that, as long as Margali was kind of a materfamilias over the whole circus (somone everyone would call "Mom" even if she's not their mother), the Wagner name would make sense, as would Kurt ...

Re: Nightcrawler's name
That's always been a matter that gave me a bit of a headache, even after the latest Origen retcon, which had Kurt taking the name of a kindly priest who defended him. I always liked the explanation offered by the '90's animated series the best- Wagner was the name of the family that adopted him.

Re: Claremont to return to Nightcrawler!
If the body's reconstruction is a supernatural phenomenon, no DNA is necessary. To be certain, this is not the resurrection scenario I would have preferred. That would have involved Kurt showing up, people wondering how he came back, and him shrugging and saying, "Of course I came back. I'm Cat...

Re: Claremont to return to Nightcrawler!
I'm not going to sweat the details unless they goof something up. Right now, the only thing I don't like is the insistence that Kurt no longer has his soul. As long as the new body and soul stay together, Kurt still has his soul. And if the body is an exact reconstruction of what used to embody Kurt...

You may have to scroll down to see this, but any idea who that well-dressed young blue guy is? He dropped by my table at Salt Lake Fan XPerience, and I just had to have a picture taken.

Re: Sexism & Violence In the Comic Industry
Thank you, thank you thank you, and keep it up. It's sad to say, but too often, female creators are not in a good position to call out sexual harassment and other vile behaviors, especially when one or more of the perps is also a comic book creator. The comic book industry is insular enough that the...

Re: Claremont to return to Nightcrawler!
If Claremont doesn't know how to write a contemporary comic, I don't want him to learn! I've always liked the balance he kept between action and character moments. If anything, I kind of felt the action in the latter parts of the book was too rushed.

Re: Aaron leaves Amazing X - Kyle & Yost to take over
It's always seemed to me that Fraction was just trying to pass the buck, likely over flack he took for that disaster of a funeral he wrote. "Don't blame me if the funeral sucked. Blame Chris Yost for killing off Nightcrawler." It also appears that he's forgotten who suggested killing off N...

Well, given that dear old dad's a long lived mutant, and the bamfs were fed mutant DNA, that could very well still mean Kurt's physically a mutant. But the possibilities....

Re: Kurt & Amanda rekindling an old flame
I'm not adverse to Kurt and Amanda reuniting, provided the relationship remains one between Kurt and a friend he knows he cannot trust. I actually would think less of Kurt if he got back together with Amanda romantically, not just because of the whole incest-like nature of that relationship, but bec...

Re: Restoration Teleportation
I get exactly what you're saying. Sad to say that stereotypes find their way often into comics- often in the form of visual shorthand, for instance, always showing an ndn character all fringed and feathered, or in the form of exaggerating one characteristic at the expense of others- as too often hap...
